Optimized AI (1.1.2)
I’m deeply reliant on feedback for making these optimizations, and all feedback is welcome.
The mod is updated for 1.1.2
Please report any feedback you have on the mod. It’s the easiest way for me to know what i need to look at, especially given that i have limited time on my hands at the moment.

List of changes:
War:
- AI should be more focused in conducting its wars. Offensively it should focus more on war-objectives and enemy capital and defensively it will focus more on killing enemy units.
- The AI should not use fleet movement nearly as much. Costs are unchanged.
- AI should be better at resupplying its troops, better at not chasing meaningless troops around and better at retreating when at a disadvantage.
- AI should be slightly smarter about Raiding. Mostly untested due to difficulty with observing the changes.
- The AI will be a bit more conservative in starting wars, but will be able to start them more often. Should result in less border gore. War is more restricted by resources.
Marriage:
- The AI should be better at finding good matches by looking a bit further.
Viking Enclaves:
- There are no changes to Viking Enclaves in this mod.
- Instead i recommend using the
‘Stay in Russia Rurik’ mod by Mnb . It makes the AI settle areas closer to home by changing what areas the AI considers when attempting to start a conquest.
Border Gore:
- This mod contains no intrusive gameplay changes to fix bordergore. Some of the changes will affect it indirectly however. What is probably needed is a cheep casus belli for any country which is surrounded by another ruler beyond de jure. Or for such counties to be much more willing to accept offers of vassalization. Or the enclave fix that is desperately needed.
Economy:
- Optimizing construction is one of those annoying things that can’t really be done without spending an extreme amount of time testing the values. Thats probably also why Paradox never bothers to do it in any of their games :> It’s better than Base game, that’s all i can promise. Especially the AI should be more focused on building tax buildings when it actually chooses to build buidlings. Hopefully 1.1.2 have fixed this issue.
- The AI should be slightly less conservative with spending gold on buildings.
- The AI should no longer sit on too fat a war chest.

Family:
- Various minor changes to Family interactions. Too minor to document them.
Feudal contracts:
- Vassals should fight a bit more for their rights and liege should fight a bit more for his benefits.
- Untested, please report back on any observations.

Compatibility:
This mod should be compatible with any other mod with a bit of luck.
Ofc it’s not going to be effective if other mods after it in the load order changes the same values, but otherwise it should be compatible.
