Kraka Drak Norscan Climate Mitigation Expansion for Cataph’s Kraka Drak Overhaul
This mod essentially improves the fantasy of Kraka Drak RETAKING THE REALMS (in Norsca).
To this end, I’ve made them more anti-corruption and let you dynamically restore the Norscan Dawi to glory.
Specifically, I did this with a building chain that mitigates the climate maluses of Norsca, which should feel really impactful and good to build (and gives lots of Anti-corruption) but at a high time and economic investment .
If using SFO be sure to check out my personal (unoffical) SFO balance submod for Kraka Drak
As long as you have the other required mods, it should be compatible with basically everything and is save-compatible.
Should be save-backwards compatible (like my mod). Removing my mods midgame may cause undesired effects (like with most mods–like not being able to continue that game without manually editing the save).
- A new building Chain for the main settlements in all of Norsca that essentially nulify (or surpass) the maluses caused by the chaotic wasteland climate at the cost of time and lots of money (and a building slot)
- Nullifies and eventually surpasses the climate penalties
- "Simulates" colonization (tools, supplies, and dawi dont just spring up out of holes in the ground…)
- Increases Dwarf RoR Cap by 1 at max lvl Removed since having 11 of each RoR a little too strong. May make it increase Orgi’s Blade limit
- Diplo Bonus with other Dawi; Diplo bonus/penalty with Enemies of Chaos/Chaos Inclined respectively
- Other Economic Bonuses that help allow Kraka Drak to "build tall" in the Norscan Area
- Penalty to global recruitment
- Wardbearer garrison
- (If you think it is too snowbally and hard to get going as-is be sure to mention so down below!)
- Unique version of the building chain for Kraka Drak settlement! Mutually Exclusive with Regular one
- Better general econ. bonuses
- Increases Dwarf RoR Cap by 2 at max lvl (Doesnt include Orgi, may increase to 3 or have another unique building that gives a little later)
- Better Diplo Bonus with other Dawi
- Very good for improving trade
- Lets Stoneguard and my Rangers (see below) be recruited at lvl 4 of main settlement instead of 5
- Better Anticorruption
- No garrison
- Improves recruit XP of units unique to Kraka Drak (please notify me if I missed one)
- An Icon on the campaign map (from Cataphs TEB) that lets you see what settlements youll be able to build the chain in (except for Baersonlings Camp…problem is being investigated). Kraka Drak has a unique version of this icon and flavor text.
- New Unit!: Rangers of the North
- recruitable at Tier 3 of new building (Bastion of the Beard)
- Meant to replace quarrelers late game
- Long ranged, armor piercing, good in melee, low rate of fire, resistant to magic (this may get changed if I add in something extra special for the unit)
- Added snowflakes compared to the standard ranger unit card (if you want to make a better one feel free)
- Slight improvements to Kraka Drak Silver Hall (untainted)
- Slight improvements to the tunnels (growth added)
- Improvements to the Okin. Mine (some oathgold, walls)
- Makes Uncorrupted (Insane remover) trigger after 3 turns instead of however vanilla works (I changed the entry from 999 to 3…)
- Gave +3 increase to Runesmiths for faction lord bonus
- Gives Forsaken Beserk
- Renames Aesling Conclave to Kraka Ornsmotek (this isnt the right location, but it’s the best option)
- Renames Winter Pyre to Kraka Dorden
- Continual balance of the building as needed for one reason or another
- New Legendary Lords connected to their dwarf holds[warhammerfantasy.wikia.com]: Logamir Ulfarson of Kraka Dorden, Haarkon Vikramson of Ravnsvake, Tyr Forsetison of Ornsmotek (probably will be Aesling’s Conclave)
- Buffs to anti-corruption on heroes
- Province Wide ability for armies
- Give units chaos attrition immunity while in friendly province
- Have the Building Chain Unlocked by a Technology
- (Requires Scripts I think) Only buildable at some level of untainted achieved
- Nerf Norscan Dwarves outside of Norsca and Mountain Terrain–Cataph has nerfed their suitable climates. Will be watching to see if more changes are needed
- Garrison to the building and to the Okin. Mine
- Different Icon; Either provided by someone else or using of the two Eight Peaks landmarks, The Grail Abbey, the Tower of the Enchantress, or Quintex
- Similar, but Unique Building chain for Hell-Pit
- Unique version for Kraka Ornsmotek (replaces Aesling’s Conclave)
- Add a unique building to represent Kraka Dorden[warhammerfantasy.wikia.com]–probably at Winter’s Pyre
- In Progress Idea:
- Give Iron, Furs
- Give recruitment cost reduction
- Special lvl 5 main settlement, 5 lvls of a unique landmark building
- Some bonus and/or unique effect regarding norscan allies
- Bonus to The Forsaken
- Something unique for Skeggi–possibly connected to Kraka Dorden; Probably involving Treggi Saltbeard
- Make Kraka Drak have 2 more building slots–May make a very restricted submod later to address this
- Make Kraka Drak not start with 3 corruption from local populace
In order to play as Kraka Drak you need Cataph’s Kraka Drak Overhaul, which in turn requires Crynsos’ faction unlocker and the Community Modding Framework.
You may also wish to try the Runic Forge Mod
Feedback on balance, bugs, and new ideas to implement are appreciated.
Requests for a version of the mod with fewer changes will be considered. Leave a comment below with your idea!
Thanks to Cataph and others on the C&C Modding Den for their help in troubleshooting.
If there is significant demand for a version with less changes I may release one, otherwise my attitude is if you don’t like a specific part of the mod, just self regulate and don’t use that part.
