Asia Rework
Despite two three full recent updates shining light on the region, East Asia is still far behind Europe in terms of historical accuracy and game balance. This mod is in in progress attempt to rework Asia to make the region more fun to play in singleplayer and multiplayer, all while attempting to at least consider some level of historicity.
– The Mandate of Heaven has been completely reworked to be more dynamic – no more AI Lan Xang taking the Mandate despite not owning any Chinese lands and immediately imploding.
The Mandate of Heaven is no longer something tangible. You can no longer "take" the mandate.
The Emperor loses the mandate if they fit the following requirements:
– Has less than 30 mandate
– Does not own the four ancient capitals of China (Beijing, Nanjing, Xi’an, and Luoyang)
New Government Type: Chinese Warring State
– Warring states get access to a new CB, "Chinese Civil War," that allows them to annex other Chinese warring states or the EOC with a 100% peace deal. The annexer will receive territorial cores on all of the new land.
– When a warring state owns all four ancient capitals, they will immediately become the new EOC. New Chinese emperors gain territorial cores when taking China superregion provinces using the unique CB “Unite China.”
– The Emperor can get a disaster if they do not own all of the 4 capitals of China. This does not apply to Ming, who already has their own unique disaster.
– Both disasters can release Chinese nations fully, and the Emperor can choose to leave them be or attack them immediately with the Chinese Civil War CB. Yes, this means when Ming explodes, it will actually explode instead of being left with marches.
– Passing reforms is much more taxing: it costs 6 stability and 100 mandate per reform. In addition, the Emperor of China is penalized with a modifier giving -10% Morale to both land and navy, and -5% Discipline.
– The negative modifier goes away when you finish passing all the reforms. You also gain a nice modifier giving -10% Tech Costs, +10% Goods Produced, and +0.2 Monthly Mandate.
Sinicization rework:
– Qing and Yuan tags are now meant to be precursors to uniting China. Forming them will give you the Chinese Warring State government reform.
– Manchu culture (Chinese group) is gained upon forming Qing, not Manchu.
– Sino-Mongol culture is gained upon forming Yuan, replacing Ordos, Chahar, Oirat, Khalkha, and Tuvan cultures.
– Split Altaic culture group into "Central Asian" and "Mongolic"
– Joseon, Japan, or a Vietnamese nation can also become a Chinese Warring State and gain Chinese culture via a hefty decision.
Tributary Rework:
– Tributaries can only be created by a Confucian Empire.
– Tributaries give much less ducats, monarch power, or manpower now.
– Refusing tribute is only a 1 trust hit.
– The stability hit for breaking tributary status is removed.
– Tributaries can be formed regardless of whether you border the overlord or not.
– Tributaries are no longer always protected from foreign attackers.
– There is actually a reason to be a tributary of the Chinese empire. The Mandate reforms also give benefits to tributary states of the Emperor, giving nations an incentive to be tributaries.
Confucianism Rework:
– Confucianism no longer has harmony, because Neo-Confucianism did not tolerate religions well during this time period.
– Confucian nations can pass reforms that give permanent bonuses.
– Oirat now has Mongolian Tumen – temporary vassals that do not take diplo slots. The other Mongol tribes are expecting the Four Oirats to capitulate the Ming and restore glory to the Mongols. If the Oirats do this, then they can reform Yuan and unite the Mongols properly. Should they fail however… they will lose all of their Tumen when:
EITHER
– Oirats’ monarch dies, the year is past 1455 (the historical date of Esen’s death) and they or their subjects do not own Beijing.
– Oirats fail the Tumu Crisis by not gaining Beijing in the (scripted) war against Ming.
– Added 10 extra provinces (for a total of 30).
– Buffed the development of the region to 327 (from 130) to better reflect Joseon’s relative power at the time. Also buffed national ideas so that they aren’t practically the worst NIs in the game.
– Changed the terrain and trade goods so that there are better lands in the south and undeveloped lands in the northern and eastern mountains.
– Divided the Korean culture group into 8 groups: Jungbu (Central), Pyongan, Hamgyong, Jeolla, Gyeongsang, Jeju, Yukjin, and Buyeo. Buyeo culture is only obtainable after completing the mission to restore Goguryeo.
– New mission tree that has better permanent bonuses than in vanilla.
– Japan proper development buffed to 502, Ryukyu has 16, and Ainu has 15.
– Shogun can no longer ally with anyone or declare war on foreigners. You have to form Japan to get out of the Shogun restrictions (this is to prevent infinite Daimyo vassal exploit).
– Divided Japanese culture into 8 groups from 3: (Kansai, Kanto, Tokai-Tosan, Togoku, Chugoku, Shikoku, Kyushuan, and Ryukyuan)
– Manchuria map rework – no more weird stuff like the tag named Udege not even being where Udege people lived, or Donghai and Yeren existing at the same time when they are both a generic Chinese label meaning “Wild Jurchens” and were synonymous.
– Readdition of Buryatia and its beloved Gold Mine so Manchu has an economy
– Buff to Japanese and Qing ideas to make them better, now that other Oriental nations also have top tier ideas more akin to European majors.
