Cygnus
Wow, I was starting to think this would never leave development.
Cygnus was developed hundreds of years into Starbound’s future, where the universe is a very different place. It was (Is? Was? Will be? I’m not sure) created as a solution to newly developed "Voidblades" : swords that use voids contained in selectively permeable force fields. Cygnus’s curved shape can be used to catch Voidblades it clashes with, which gives an upper hand over their users. Anything that enters the blade disappears into the void.
I’ve been working on Cygnus for over two months now, and I’m actually really proud of it. I decided to continue the trend of naming my weapon mods after celestial objects by naming this sword after the black hole Cygnus X-1 (I actually found out that "cygnus" means swan in Latin, but I’m keeping it since swans can be pretty vicious).
Cygnus can be found in Extreme-level (tier 6) space encounters. It has a weight of 0.3, so that gives is about a 9% chance of generating. It’s much more powerful than the other weapons that are generated in space encounters, but I figured that its low chance of appearing balances that out.

Ability: Jump Slash
Cygnus comes with a 6-step combo with custom swooshes, different sounds, varying damage and knockback between steps. Its alternate ability is Jump Slash, which makes the player flip up into the air and deal damage to whatever it hits. This ability is usable in the air and does not cancel out the player’s motion, so it can be used as an additional jump.
