Description:

A collection of different major and minor changes to steer the world in a more historical or logical direction – especially if the player isn’t involved. This is an open beta. Suggestions or problem reports are very welcome.

Main ENCYCLOPAEDIUM 0.3.1 BETA changelog
  • Game Rules: choose which Encyclopaedium mechanics to include in your campaign at game start!
  • Expansion
    • Expansion into particular regions will be reverted: e.g. no Europeans in the African interior
    • Certain minor countries will be "kept alive" until it’s their time to shine: e.g. Brandenburg will always survive into the 17th c.
    • Some historical border changes and country partitions (e.g. of Hungary) will take place dynamically
    • Army sizes massively slashed (taken from Responsible Warfare)
  • Colonization
    • Countries will not set up colonies outside of their respective historical regions
    • Minor colonies (e.g. New Amsterdam, Goa, New Sweden) will appear dynamically
    • North American tribes somewhat nerfed (taken from Natives Rebalanced)
  • Dynasties, unions and formables
    • Prominent dynasties (e.g. Habsburgs, Hohenzollerns, Timurids &c.) will stay in power
    • Persia, Mughals, Qing, the Netherlands etc. will appear much more consistently
    • Much higher chance of historical personal unions (e.g. England-Scotland or Austria-Bohemia) taking place
    • Charles V event chain – historical division of Habsburg realms included!
  • Reformation and HRE
    • Historically protestant regions will become protestant, historically catholics ones will stay catholic
    • Provinces outside of Germany, Italy and France will not join the Empire
    • Historical incident outcomes will be preferred
    • The religious league wars will usually end in the Peace of Westphalia
  • Technology
    • Institutions spawn locked to Europe
    • Embracement speed massively slashed
    • Non-european institution embracement made more tedious
  • Map changes
    • Much more accurate and aesthetically pleasing borders (mostly taken from Heavy Europe)
    • East European borders remade from scratch
  • Further plans
    • Localize everything – even AI-only events
    • Add events for other prominent historical leaders
    • Revamp institutions so that Asia stays on par with Europe until ~1650 and then falls off
    • And much, much more!
