Description:
Experimental:

As suggested by other users, I’m attempting to add grapeshot ammo to the standard cannons. I’m still trying to get a unique name, description, and icon set in place for the grapeshot ammo but until then the pictures and words used in the multi-shot for the reaper/eagle bolt throwers will make for a placeholder until I get that working. It’s still the same grapeshot as used in the old grapeshot variants, so it should do the same damage. Another reason for setting it forth like this is so people can tell me if it’s a good idea in practice.

All righty, I’ve been quite a busy bee with both work and college on my plate. It took longer than I would have liked to get around to this, but I’ve finally gotten some time to play around with my workshop toys and bring them over to their new home.

Outriders (Blunderbuss)

A smaller unit of Outriders armed with an exceedingly lethal blunderbuss each. Their short range is offset by a combination of extreme damage and high speed to keep themselves just far enough away from melee to better destroy enemies that cannot catch them or retaliate with ranged firepower.

Irondrakes (Canister Shot)

Goblins come in seething masses of stinking, cackling filth and so the obvious solution to an infestation of grobi scum is a generous mass of musket shot fired from a modified drakegun, ripping whole ranks of greenskins to shreds in a hail of leaden fury.

Handgunners (Blunderbuss)

While a blunderbuss doesn’t have nearly the range of the standard handgun, its superior damage can prove a significant boon to a commander that can protect gunners that risk being closer to the fray.

Thunderers (Grudge Raker)

Thunderers are better equipped for close combat than the Empire’s handgunners. A weapon such as the Grudge Raker, the Dawi equivalent of the blunderbuss, makes a natural match with a dwarf’s broad shield and sturdy armour which will protect dwarfs as they close in range with their mighty weapons.

Ironsides (Blunderbuss)

The short range of the Blunderbuss naturally puts its user at greater risk of being engaged in close combat, so the famed Ironsides of Nuln would make a natural fit with the weapon. These men are strong, well-armoured, and capable of engaging enemy infantry in close combat.

Rangers (Grudge Raker)

Stealth can help cover distance to the target as well as a trusty shield and shirt of chainmail. When the distance is closed, the Grudge Rakers sound, and Dawi vengeance is swiftly satisfied as the Rangers slip off to right another wrong.

[Great] Cannon (Grapeshot)

Human and Dwarf cannons are almost functionally identical, and so do the same degree of fearful slaughter when loaded with grapeshot and directed against dense infantry formations. Be it swathes of undead from Sylvania or a cackling horde of goblins trespassing on rightful Dwarf holds, a few clusters of iron shot fired from such mighty weapons of war will see to either transgressor and assure the dominance of their respective people over their lands.

NOTE: I took off my "King and the Warlord" DLC to test compatibility. I did not crash, though I’d like confirmation this is true for others as well, but it seems this unit will not be visible without this item in your game.

Rangers (Grudge Raker) REQUIRES: King and the Warlord.

Each unit is recruited from the same buildings as its vanilla counterparts. It’s nothing special, but maybe someone out there needs a bit of scatter shot in their life.
