Updated 2021-08-20
New: Bug fixes and less ugly building icons (See all changes)

Rewards

Rewards are granted to the top three cities, and to the top city in each of six categories, at the end of each era. Both human and AI cities can receive rewards.

The top three cities overall get the following, which last for the rest of the game:

Greatest City: +1 Amenity, +2 Tourism (rising to +4 Tourism after Enlightenment and +8 Tourism after Flight)
2nd Greatest City: +1 Tourism (rising to +2 Tourism after Enlightenment and +4 Tourism after Flight)
3rd Greatest City: +1 Tourism after Enlightenment (rising to +3 Tourism after Flight)

The top city in each category also generates addtional Great Person Points appropriate to the category that it is the leader in (Great General points for defense, Great Writer points for culture). This only lasts until the end of the next era.

The number of Great Person points depends of the era for which it was awarded, as follows:

A city can receive the reward for leading a category even if it is not in the top three overall, but will only get one category reward even if it is the leader in multiple categories.

Options

Two options can be configured by editing AKGCR_Rewards.lua. These control whether cities that are not in the top three overall should be eligible for category leader bonus rewards, or whether a single city should be able to receive multiple category leader bonuses in a single era. Defaults are:

opt[‘GrantEndofEraBonusBeyondTop3’] = true opt[‘GrantMultipleEndofEraBonuses’] = false

Compatibility

Obviously requires Greatest Cities, other than that it should be compatible with any combination of DLCExpansions, and is unlikely to conflict with most mods – but obviously I’ve not tested it with all 4000+ mods on the workshop.

The rewards are implemented by adding buildings to the winning cities so this does effect saved games, and should not be removed mid-game.
