Description:

The SS William P. Snyder Jr. was a great lakes bulk carrier built for the Shenango Furnace Company in 1912. The ship is nearly identical to her sister ship, the Col. James M. Schoonmaker, which is a floating museum in Toledo Ohio to this day. The Shenango Furnace Company sold off their fleet in the 60s to different companies, and this ship passed owners on until her final, the Cleveland Cliffs Iron Company. Unlike her sister, after Cliffs sold their fleet, the Snyder was not rescued and was scrapped in Port Colborne in 1987.
