Naggarond, The Tower of Cold

Naggarond is the capital city of the Druchii, or Dark Elves, of Naggaroth. It is where the black ark citadel of Malekith first made landfall on that continent and is the site of The Black Tower, his great and terrible stronghold and the seat of his power for millenia. The streets of Naggaroth are dark and labyrinthian. The city boasts few squares and unlike many other Dark Elf cities, it seems less like a place of immense commerce or wealth and more one of radiant hate, the very image of Malekith’s dark rage given form. Its tall fortifications are laden with his banners, fashioned from the flayed skins of tortured enemies and slaves, and the air is heavy with volcanic ash and the fumes of sacrifice. Even to its denizens, no place in the city is safe. Always looking for new victims to fuel the worship of Bloody Handed Khaine, the devout will abduct slave and dreadlord alike to feed Naggarond’s black flames.

Overview

The city is supposed to feel somewhat void of structure, but I included just a bit to make it playable in engine. There are a few distinct districts, a port side area, a lower city, the Black Tower and the fortified area surrounding a central plaza next to a temple of Khaine.

There are 4 gates and two different sides from which to attack, along with 4 capture points spread fairly evenly throughout the city. It’s not totally balanced, but gives a pretty clear advantage to the defenders, but once you get past the wall, you can probably even things out by spreading them thin trying to hold the 4 points.

I’ve based the style of the city primarily off of CA’s art in the first Dark Elf ritual cinematic, which is why there’s so many custom houses, I hope you like it.

Fixed every wall bug I could find, altered the capture points for the towers, made the city 100% AI accessible (haven’t thoroughly tested it, but it should work just fine) and AI will attack all sections of the wall given a large enough army. I pretty thoroughly detailed it since the last update, there’s a whole new climate and I altered the custom vista as well.

Thanks to everyone who was in the contest and the GCCM community as a whole.
