Description:

This mod automatically adds or subtracts development from your provinces based on the amount of devastation or prosperity in them. It does this by raising the base development cost to 100000 monarch points, effectively increasing development cost to a permanent 999 per province. Note that it is still possible to manually develop a province. It just costs 999 monarch points per category.

Development speed is paired with development cost. The lower your development cost, the faster your provinces will develop. Development speed increases as the game progresses, as the mod adds several modifiers to every province in the game, increasing or decreasing development cost.

By extension, it also takes into account the terrain of a province. Terrain with a development cost reduction will develop slower, whereas terrain such as farmland will develop faster.

An undocumented change is that the mod also adds country eras. Depending on where you are in the game, your country will suffer penalties in the form of aggressive expansion impact, province warscore cost and core creation cost. As the game progresses, these penalties will be removed from your country and they will be replaced by more advantageous modifiers.

THIS MOD IS NOT MY WORK. I also don’t know whose work it is. I found this a few months back on the Workshop and it has since been removed. The original name (without quotation marks) was as follows: "Dynamic Economy 1.0".

If you have questions regarding the mod, type them in the comments, I will attempt to answer them to the best of my ability.

Should the original author contact me and prove to me that he/she is indeed the original author of this mod and subsequently request the removal of this mod from the Workshop, I will gladly do so.

Compatibility:

– Victorum Universalis is kinda supported, from 1444 on. Earlier institutions are not supported.
– Beyond Typus is supported.
– Anbennar is supported.
– I may add a patch for Extended Timeline at some point in the future.
– Imperium Universalis is probably incompatible, since it uses its own automatic development system. I disabled Dynamic Economy in my Imperium Universalis run so as to not break it.
– Extrapolating from this I conclude that this mod is, indeed, compatible with mods that alter the map, with few exceptions.

– Rather than relying on the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ code Paradox provides, and thus being prone to crashes on version changes, this mod is nearly fully self contained. This makes cross-version compatibility a breeze and unless anything major related to development changes, updating will ONLY involve changing the version number.
– Yes, it works on the version you play on.

Balance:
– No.

Performance is ♥♥♥♥, I’m looking into how I can fix that but don’t count on it.

The mod used in the screenshot is Beyond Typus with the Byzantine Resurgence addon.
