Description:

Overhaul, balancing, AI changes, realism and many more quality of life improvements.

Main changes included:

🛡️Armor

-Usually armor is: none<cloth<leather<linothorax/chest<chainmail<scale<bronze<segmentata, but limb armors also matter. Eg.: a hoplite with linothorax but with good helmet and greaves will have more armor than a unit with only chainmail.
-Removed bonus against missiles from padded armors and gave it to heavy armors like bronze, segmentata etc…
-Buffed the missile block chance of most shields, and slightly buffed melee defense bonus. Someone with shield should be able to avoid attacks much more easily.
-Shield armor was nerfed so attacks bypassing the shield won’t face as much additional damage reduction.
-New armor classification for units

  • Very Light: 0-20 armor
  • Light: 20-40 armor
  • Medium: 40-60 armor
  • Heavy: 60-80 armor
  • Very Heavy: 80-100 armor

⚔️Weapons

-Nerfed some weapons like wood clubs, Ionian gloves doing more damage than any melee was kind of ridiculous.
-Nerfed torches to the ground used for sieging gate.
-Reduced some melee’s armor piercing like the axes, and slightly increased normal damage (they don’t go though metal armor like butter lol)
-More realistic (but also playable) projectiles:

  • Slingshot: 150-170m range, 16-18 dmg, weak armor piercing, 25-30 ammo
  • Bow: 150-170m range, 26-38 dmg, average armor piercing, 15-20 ammo
  • Javelin: 60-65m range, 38-42 dmg, average AP, 2-7 ammo
  • Pilum: 35-40m range, 32-36 dmg, good AP, 2 ammo
  • Scorpion: 260-300m range, 80-95 dmg, great AP
  • Ballista/Onagers: 380-500m range, 200-450 dmg, great AP

🚩Units

-Added new units/unit re-skins
-New bronze age Egyptian units
-Adjusted fatigue: Exhausted units have -40% speed instead of -20%
-Unit sizes modified: cavalry 100, elephants 20. Buffed charge bonus and unit size, nerfed mount HP
-Reworked costs: unit upkeeps range from 50-250, a mercenary version will cost 2x to upkeep but the initial cost will always be less.
-More common fight animations
-Buffed the health of weaker ships, they used to get one shotted by ramming and onagers.
-UI unit stats scales edited, so most units will look stronger (max morale display was 100 even though the best units have 75), unused stats are hidden for each unit type (e.g. bonus vs cavalry for sword units).
– Adjusted unit heights. (Post-Marian reform romans slightly taller, elite units are taller for each faction, etc…)
-Realistic health:

  • War dogs: 40-45hp
  • Mob/women: 40-45hp
  • Trained units: 50-55hp
  • Well Trained units: 60-65hp
  • Elite units: 65-70hp

-Realistic morale (mercenaries will have minimally less morale than their national counterpart):

  • Mob/Levies: 25-30
  • Trained units: 35-45
  • Well Trained units: 50-60
  • Elite units: 65-75

🎮Gameplay

-Nerfed some overpowered attributes like + 40% weapon damage to + 20%, and buffed some underpowered ones like poisoned movement speed multiplier from 0.8x to 0.6x
-Slightly increased campaign difficulty with lowering base public order
-More realistic siege hp (stone walls are harder to destroy, wooden walls are weaker, etc…)
-More aggressive/challenging AI with way bigger spending limits.
-Trade agreements are more meaningful as they provide 2x more income now, making trade routes more significant.
-Re-balanced some buildings (realistic squalor, public order etc…)
-Small and Large factions had the same GDP (base income) by default, now small factions have only 60%
-Better AI recruitment (Hellenic factions will have more hoplites, Macedon’s more pikemen, factions won’t spam cavalry units and slingers that much as it’s not historically accurate, etc…)
-Just like in Rome 1, rebels/secessionists won’t have access to your most elite tier 4 units.
-Buffed some useless technologies. More technologies will reduce corruption because 90-100% corruption rates, taking all your income make no sense.
And many other realism/gameplay improving changes…
