B-55J "Protector"

The B-55J Protector is a VLAT (Very Large Air Tanker) based on the B-55 heavy bomber airframe. There are only two airworthy examples of the B-55 still flying today with the Sawyer Isles Fire Department (SIFD). They feature updated engines which trade range for speed and lifting power as well as slightly modernized avionics. The Protector has a 20,000L Capacity split between two tanks, and has space for up to 8 smoke jumpers in the rear of the aircraft.

Startup: (Flight Engineers Panel)
1. Close All Breakers
2. Pressurize hydraulics and fuel system
3. Individual engine fuel pumps
4. Start Engines – Hold until engine starts
Notes:
-Autopilot on the flight deck is only for altitude, go down to the navigator station to set GPS waypoints
