Description:

The Boeing B-52 Stratofortress, also known as the BUFF, is a large subsonic strategic bomber that first entered service in 1955. It is one of the largest bombers in the world, powered by 8 jet engines with massive wings and an impressive payload. It is also one of the oldest bombers in the world, with just under 65 years of service under its belt. It was built to carry nuclear weapons, though in combat it has only ever carried traditional bombs. Despite the development of newer and “better” bombers, the B-52 continues to be used. Of the 744 built, 58 are in active service, and they are expected to remain in service well into the 2050s. It’s cost and versatility are key to its success and long service record. Having been a veteran of several wars, it is also used as a test bed in many cases, and sees much service outside of just strategic bombing.

In the case of this model, it’s size and speed make it inherently unstable, thus trim tabs for roll and pitch have been added. It is also quite sluggish in turns, as to prevent the plane from tearing itself apart in a sharp turn.
