A Localized Nations Mod for Ante Bellum
The mod aims to enhance immersion in the great mod of Ante Bellum by renaming each tag’s name to the name used by the local population or government.
Features :
– (Almost) Each country’s name has been changed to their local names, and many AB formables and rename decisions have been edited as well!
-Ruler Titles will slowly be made localized for the major powers with unique governments/situations.
-Culture names will slowly be made localized to better reflect the lore and current historical situation of Ante Bellum.
Disclaimer : I am an amateur at choosing the proper names for several more difficult cases where there are multiple possibilities, a prime example being Tocharia. However, the names I have chosen are those which I preferred for several reasons among those historical and aesthetic.
Francia’s name situation is my own personal take on it. Base Francia has been renamed to [les] "Francs" due to a decline in Frankish influence and since the Franks themselves will enter a period of turmoil with Lothair’s succession crisis. The name "Francia" is instead reserved for when the player forms the Frankish Empire and restores the glory of the Franks with prestigious Latin. The empire itself is assosciated with Francia, thus is the reservation of the name appropriate. This same situation also appears with Byzantium being called "Romaíoí", or Romans, and the name "Basileía Romaíon" being reserved for when the player chooses the East Rome decision.
Another disclaimer: Certain characters cannot be portrayed with EU4’s current character set, thus ^ often times as a substitute where it is appropriate.
I hope you enjoy this side-project of mine, and please like or favorite!
Any and all suggestions to the current localization and any requests for future additional content are highly welcomed and I look forward to seeing some!!
More work will be done in Anatolia and the Caucasus after Ante Bellum’s update of that region.
Credits go to the Localisation mods already published on the workshop, especially Zennzenn’s, and of course much credit goes to Parmelion and his talented dev team for making Ante Bellum.
