Summary

This mod adds office workstations that allow pawns to do various jobs in exchange for silver. Other office-related items are also added.

Features

The workstation is a new way for your pawns to earn silver, allowing for less intensive work, which is especially useful for pawns who are disabled and/or lack many skills. Also a bit slice-of-lifey c:, and if I’m not mistaken, your pawns will gain skill XP in their relevant field of work as they engage in it. The workbench must be unlocked by research before you can use it, as well as the various income levels. The various levels of research takes a while to complete in order to give you something to work towards, and to prevent the mod from being OP. The currently added jobs and items are:

Minimum wage jobs (unlocked with the workstation) all pay $5 per hour. Pawn work is done per hour, or more accurately, in 2000 ticks. Any work done in more than that time can be attributed as "taxes". Pawns can be "promoted" by gaining skill levels that allow them to work better-paying jobs. These are great to use as fillers in rooms were there is extra space to be used, and to simulate a working environment. Pawns can be "assigned" specific jobs by using allowed areas. I got the office chair texture from astorun’s Office Chair mod with express permission. I will be adding more office-related items, as well as jobs regularly, so stay on the the lookout for them. If you would like to see a specific job added in the next update, post them in the comments!

PS, for lore purposes and explanation, for jobs that aren’t (or can’t be) traditionally worked from an office desk, pawns control work robots from the workstation that do the tasks physically. There is a tube (or box) attached to the workstation that allows pawns to send and receive work-related items. It makes sense that companies/settlements/colonies on the planet (and possibly others) would send out work orders to hire workers 🙂 especially in the case of more advanced and friendly factions – take the "Pawn Lend" quest from Royalty, for example.

Compatibility & Issues

The mod should be compatible with everything, as it changes nothing from the game nor other mods. However, if you do come across any problems or bugs, please let me know so that I can promptly handle them. I am open to translations if anyone wants to make them. Just let me know if you do and I’ll add a link to it (Patreon/Ko-fi links will be included if you have them). Also, if you make an add-on or compatibility patch using my defs, let me know and I will add it to the mod description. 🙂

Dependencies

None.
