Graphical Map Improvements

New HD terrain textures.
More emphasized and better-looking seasons.
Darker and richer water colour.
Shadows removed from the terrain, thereby making it easier to see borders.
Thicker font for country and province names.
Easier-to-see country, province and state borders.
Larger occupation lines.

MOD COMPATIBILITIES: This mod should be compatible with any other mod that doesn’t change the way the map looks (this doesn’t include new provinces and countries etc, only graphical changes).

Please note that the base version must also stay active for these to work.

You can activate any of these mods in any combination, except for two:

• ‘Terrain Shadows’ & ‘No Snow Overlay’
• ‘Darker Water’ & ‘Extended Timeline’

If you want to combine either of those you must instead subscribe to the dedicated mods ‘No Snow Overlay w/ Terrain Shadows’ or ‘Extended Timeline Darker Water’ respectively.

Direct download can be tricky to get working sometimes, so only use this if you can’t get the workshop version to function or want to download an older version of the mod.

Instructions:

1. Extract/unzip the package and place both the ‘graphicmap.mod’ file and the ‘graphicmap’ folder into DocumentsParadox InteractiveEuropa Universalis IVmod.

For the latest version of the launcher:

2. Open ‘Playsets’ tab in the Paradox launcher.

3. Click ‘add more mods’ in the top right and add Graphical Map Improvements.

Ignore any warnings about unsupported versions, the mod should still work. Also make sure you keep the base mod activated if you wish to use any submods.

If you have issues with the mod not downloading, activating, updating, the map appearing glitchy, or anything of that nature, try deleting everything inside ‘DocumentsParadox InteractiveEuropa Universalis IVmod’ as well as everything inside ‘Program FilesSteamsteamappsworkshopcontent236850’ and then wait for the mods to redownload themselves.

Alternatively, there may be mod compatibility issues, so checking which mods you have enabled could help. Additionally, remember that if you are using submods you must activate the base mod as well for them to work.

If the above solutions don’t work, it’s probably best to use the direct download links above to install the mod manually. Make sure you follow the instructions carefully.
