Description:
What does this mod do?

This mod adds a new elite unit to the Dwarf roster, the Anvilguard, as well as an associated ROR. It also edits the skill tree of Thorek and generic Runelords to make the Anvil of Doom mount more useful.

What role do the Anvilguard play?

The Anvilguard are intended to be a balanced non-specialised choice at the same tier as Ironbreakers and Hammerers. Where Hammerers are specialised for offence and Ironbreakers are specialised for defence, the Anvilguard are intended to be somewhere between the two without making the existing units obsolete. All Anvilguard units have Guardian by default, making them excellent bodyguards to Lords and Heroes. In addition, they gain buffs to both damage and resistance when their HP drops below 50%. They use shields and hammers.

Anvilguard can be recruited from the Gromril Forge, the same building as Ironbreakers. They are affected by Ironbreakers skills and technology.

The ROR, Brotherhood of the Anvil, gets an ability that grants damage resistance and ‘refuse to die’ while active.

What are the Skills?

The skills added by this mod aim to make Anvils of Doom a little more impactful than they are in the base game. Thorek receives a new skill which grants a mapwide ward save ability to all characters mounted on Anvils (including himself). Both Thorek and generic Runelords receive a skill which enables a magic missile ability when mounted on an Anvil. The missiles have a unique lightning appearance, long range and armour piercing damage but have considerable spread with a 90s recharge.

Additionally, Thorek’s base game skill ‘Veteran Anvilguard’ now upgrades the Guardian ability of Anvilguard units to a unique version which grants ward save instead of phys resist.

Misc:

Runelords’ base weapon strength has been changed to a more even AP split both on foot and on the Anvil.
Anvil of Doom mounts are now unlocked at level 9 for Runelords to match Thorek.
Thorek starts with an Anvilguard unit in Mortal Empires.

Known Issues:

ROR may not appear in ROR pool in Vortex campaign
