Description

Incubator allows you to designate multiple domes as Incubator Domes.
Normal domes can be set to send their newborns to the Incubator Domes or to allow newborns to stay in their birth domes.
Birth control can be set to only allow newborns when space in Nurseries is available.
*NOTE on Asteroids – Births on asteroids will spawn on asteroids. You will need to transport them back.
Send only one type of sex or turn on birth control on asteroids to avoid that.

How It Works

Once the mod is loaded and running you will see a new button/section in every domes information panel. (See Screenshots Above)
Standard in game "Births are Allow" or "Births are Forbidden" are respected.

If Births are Allowed in a Dome then Incubator takes over the domes’ Birth Control.
The new button/section will have the following options(see screenshots above):

Dome: [NORMAL] Relocate:[N/A] – Icon is Grey
This setting shows that Incubator is loaded but no domes have been designated as Incubators.
Since births are allowed, children will be born in this dome, whether you have nurseries or not in it.
You can use the built in game controls to Forbid Births to stop newborns from spawning in this dome until you setup your Incubator Dome.
All domes will show this setting if no Incubators domes are designated.
N/A stands for Not Available.

Dome: [NORMAL] Relocate:[ON] – Icon is Green Showing an Arrow and Newborn.
This is the default setting for all domes and is automatically set when you designate another dome as an Incubator.
This setting shows that Incubator is loaded and you have at least one dome designated as an Incubator.
This dome will send all of its newborns to the Incubator dome.
If you have more than one Incubator dome, the Incubator dome with the most free spaces in it’s nurseries will be used first.
You can have an unlimited number of Incubator Domes.
If none of your Incubator domes have free space in their nurseries, then births in this dome will be postponed until space in the Incubator Dome is available.

Dome: [NORMAL] Relocate:[OFF] – Icon is Red Showing a Newborn
This setting shows that Incubator is loaded and you have at least one dome designated as an Incubator.
This dome will NOT send any of its newborns to the Incubator dome.
Since births are allowed, children will be born in this dome, whether you have nurseries or not in it.
You can use the built in game controls to Forbid Births to stop newborns from spawning in this dome if you choose or continue to have newborns spawned.
This would be a special case if you choose.
To set this option you right click the button/section, see button rollover hint.

Dome: [INCUBATOR] – Icon is Blue Showing a Newborn
This setting shows that the dome is designated as an Incubator Dome.
You can have an unlimited number of Incubator Domes.
Incubator domes can also spawn children if adults are in the dome.
An Incubator dome follows the same set of rules as a Normal Dome set to Relocate newborns.
If an Incubator dome does not have any nurseries in it then it will not accept any newborns and adults in its dome will not have children.
In game Allow or Forbid birth controls can be set on this dome if you choose but do not affect how other domes send their newborns to it.
Incubator Domes will accept children even if its own Dome forbids births.

Dome: [BIRTHS FORBIDDEN] – Icon is Grey
This setting shows that the dome is currently set to Forbid Births using the standard Game Controls.
You can toggle the Incubator button and turn this dome into an Incubator Dome.
Right Click options will not function while the dome forbids births and will not show NORMAL status.
If you Allow Births using the in game controls, then the Incubator status will update.

Gameplay

If you have at least one Incubator designated dome, then births across your entire colony will be limited to the free space in the Incubators domes nurseries.
Want more children, build more nurseries in the Incubator Dome, or build more Incubator Domes with nurseries.
Want less children, build fewer nurseries in the Incubator Dome, turn nurseries off in the incubator dome, turn off slots in your nurseries or set your in Game Birth Controls per dome.

Use of Filters

Filters are optional. With Incubator you dont need filters to have your newborns moved into an Incubator Dome, Incubator does it automatically. If you already have domes with children and just built a new Incubator Dome then set you dome filter to move them to the Incubator Dome.
I recommend at least the Incubator Dome have a filter to restrict Adults.
Remember you need at least one free apartment space for every nursery space otherwise children will not move to the Incubator dome. Children move from nurseries to apartments when they turn 6 and are considered youths.
If your apartments in the Incubator Dome fill up with Adults then no children will move to the Dome.
Children will eventually turn into youth, and will take the jobs necessary in the dome if you have services, or make a services dome next to the Incubator Dome connected with passages to the Incubator Dome and passages to another adults only dome.

Dome Comfort

If you nominate and make active at least one dome as an incubator dome, then all domes receive a boost of 10 comfort points on the next sol.
If your incubator dome goes offline, un-nominate the incubator dome and have no more incubator domes online then the comfort boost is removed from all domes.
No crying children in a dome = more comfort for other things, if you know what I mean.

Developer Notes

This mod uses the mechanics of newborn spawning, nursery space, and coding to accomplish its tasks and does not alter any other game functions, variables, or buildings.
However, if you have any "Birth Control" mods loaded there may be incompatibilities or unforeseen issues.
Birth control mods that alter comfort to keep population low will permanently cause low birth rates when you may want more colonists. Use them at your discretion. Use Incubator to be able to fine tune birth rates, no other birth mod needed.

The following Mods are not compatible with Incubator:
-Nurseries Limit Birth
-Birth Control/Infertility mod
-Any mod that alters comfort or game constants to limit births.
-May be more, these are the ones I checked.

Coexistence Mods
– Choggi’s Nursery: Limit Birthing To Spots
Nursery: Limit Birthing To Spots will work with Incubator. If Nursery: Limit Birthing To Spots detects that you set the dome to Relocate Children it will handoff control to Incubator to do its thing. If you want to birth children in the current dome and have Nursery: Limit Birthing To Spots, then set the Domes Incubator settings to NOT Relocate Children.
