Description:

A much needed overhaul to perhaps the weakest Legendary Lord in the game, Balthasar Gelt! Experience true mastery of the Lore of Metal, and a whole lot more!

You asked for it, and now you’re getting it! Balthasar Gelt, humanity’s greatest spellcaster, was probably the worst legendary lord in the game. Not only is the Lore of Metal quite a weak school of magic, his skill tree was incredibly underwhelming and he felt like a waste of upkeep. Fret not, for with this mod, that is no longer the case! This mod completely overhauls major elements of Balthasar’s skill tree and his Lore of Metal (unique to him). He has brand new and unique skills that will make him feel useful for your faction/army, his ability as a spellcaster is much more powerful, and he comes with a brand new ‘Alchemy’ skill tree that contains six new powerful items to use in battle.

A majorly revised skill tree for Balthasar Gelt (only skill branches unchanged are the army and campaign branches)

Majorly improved Lore of Metal for Gelt, reflecting his mastery of metal – all spells (when cast by Gelt, not other wizards) have stronger effects, including longer durations, more damage, better stat buffs, and more. He also has access to tier 3 skills for his spells, further reducing cooldowns and WoM costs.

A very powerful new passive spell ability, Arcane Shot Weighting. Using his mastery over the Lore of Metal, Gelt can increase the weight and velocity of his friendly forces artillery and missiles, increasing their range and effectiveness dramatically. If you like pike-and-shot style gameplay with the Empire, Gelt is now the perfect general for you.

Gelt has several brand new skills to increase his usefulness outside of battle. The Supreme Patriarch now feels like he’s an active and vital part of the Empire.

An improved Staff of Volans quest item, it’s WoM recharge effect is now a lot more powerful.

The biggest new addition is Gelt’s Alchemy skill tree, which grants him access to six new alchemical items that Gelt can use once-per-battle. These items are used from the magic bar on the battlefield, you need to switch to the ‘Alchemy’ circle, just like you’d switch Lores of Magic.

This mod should be compatible with SFO and Radious, as well as any other mod, as long as they don’t make significant changes to lores of magic and the magical branch of Gelt’s skill tree.

It is NOT savegame compatible!

For modders, the only tables that I’m using a ‘hard’ copy of are special_ability_groups_to_unit_abilities_junctions_tables and special_ability_groups_to_units_junctions_tables I’m fairly certain this is necessary to achieve the mod’s objectives but I’m always interested in ways to improve compatibility.

This mod is not compatible with other standalone spell overhauls. Wait for Gelt to be added to my main compilation and use that instead! (He’ll be added in a few days when I’m sure he’s stable)
