Description:
About:

The CU-22A "Mothership" is a support VTOL designed for transport of smaller vehicles and cargo with the functionality to remotely operate compatible vehicles.

Aircraft Lore:
The CU-22A, formally known as “Mothership”, is a module deploying Military VTOL that has recently become popular in aircraft reliant special forces operations within the country. The aircraft is manufactured under a military contract by BIRGEN LT. and is primarily used to transport remote-operated combat units to hard-to-reach locations. The original designs of this large aircraft can be traced back to a man named Elias Axl Delacroix, who liked to fiddle around with aerospace technology during his free time. The original prototype of the CU-22A was classified as the FF-X and was given the name “The Flying Fortress” by Elias’s son. The aircraft was used only for air shows in the surrounding area and served as a fort for Elias’s children to play in until it had to be scrapped and sold for parts due to financial troubles. After regaining financial stability by selling his designs via military contracts, Elias got enough funds to pursue his hobby to the extreme. In the coming years, Elias found his old blueprints of the FF-X, redesigned the majority of the aircraft, purchased an old compound within an unused airport and started BIRGEN LT. The revitalized design that he came up with would be the CU-22A his company produces today.

Add-on Vehicles:

– Remote Tank Unit A: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2792429042

Startup Procedure:
  • Turn on main battery switch
  • Turn on Left and Right Engine fuel pumps
  • Turn on Left and Right Engines
  • Set Engine RPS to 11 for flying

Notes:
  • This workshop item contains ONLY the main "Mothership". The RTU (Remote Tank Unit) and other attachable vehicles available separately
  • This vehicle has some issues we plan to address and we will be updating this vehicle as we progress
  • Large yaw inputs for sustained periods of time in plane mode may cause a drop in speed and altitude

KNOWN ISSUES:
  • Rear landing gears sometimes cause physics issues when gear is retracted which can cause mid air maneuverability problems, especially when bay doors are open. (Should the physics glitch occur, extending the landing gear will help)
  • Beware of "Backrooms hole" towards the rear of the main cargo bay
  • Hover mode ALT hold overshoots slightly (less than 10)

UPDATE 1.1:
  • Fixed transition from hover to plane, dip is now negligible
  • Improved hover mode ALT hold PID, no more bouncing
