Ice Age Kings [ALPHA]
NOTE: This is an alpha version. Mechanics are in place and are working, but there is currently little flavor in terms of events and GUI. However, the stories write themselves, and every game will be different. Values and mechanics will be altered based on user feedback. Depending on how the mod is received by users, I will either continue development or move on to other projects. I appreciate feedback and bug reports!
The world is thrown into a sudden crisis as Europe and parts of Asia enters a new ice age. Every ruler north of Italy in Europe, and the Himalayas in the east, will see their realms collapse, while realms bordering the frozen wastelands, like Italian, Iberian and Persian rulers will suffer large penalties to growth.
Current features:
• Realm migrations: rulers can declare migration wars and leave behind their homelands. You need to be an independent ruler and take the "start migration" decision in order to get the invasion-casus belli. This will shatter the realm, but you will keep your primary title. Army size is calculated based on size, buildings and development of your realm. You can then declare war against rulers outside of the ice age zones.
• Spontaneous migrations: simulated migrations based on a under-the-hood population system will see migrations of refugees whose size and impact are determined by the development and makeup of their homelands. Much of the world will become very chaotic as new cultures and faiths are introduced to previously stable realms.
• Simulated decline of realms will see Europe and the steppes collapse. Within a decade, mostly ruins will remain. The new culture tradition, Winter Kings will allow some cultures to stay behind and not thrive, but at least survive until better times.
• Dynamic climate: conditions will get better or worse over time, so that new realms will have to be abandoned or wastelands may be recolonized. Every game is random, and the ice age might end or proceed all the way to north Africa and southern India. All counties undergoing ice age will have a county modifier that allows you to identify them.

Compatible with other mods, provided they don’t change the map too much or alter the main geographical regions.
