Orthodox Village Church
Hello everyone! Here we have a small orthodox church, based on the Pokrovskaya Old Believer Church in Borisov, Belarus. The church looked so nice, i just had to make it. It will fit perfectly in a rural setting. Capacity is 60.
The Pokrovskaya Old Believer Church, or the prayer house of the Borisov Old Believer Community of the Pomor Consent, is an old wooden church built in the 18th century.
Old Believers or bespopovtsy are Orthodox Christians, did not support the Nikonian reforms, for which they were called schismatics. The tsarist authorities waged an irreconcilable struggle with the schismatics at all times, because the charter of the Old Believers does not allow them to recognize any authority except the authority of God.
The wealth of the Old Believers also always aroused envy. These are people who are serious, hardworking, able to earn by their own labor and accumulate a large fortune. In addition, they always keep a closed community and always help each other. Their church services are not conducted in the same way as in the usual Orthodox churches. Knowledge, as in the old days, passed by word of mouth, and the head of the community is elected from the wisest, most pious and respected men.
