The Essential: Variety Insect Mod
OH NO! NOT THE BEES! NOT THE BEES! AHH MY EYES! MY EYES!
This mod overhauls the sprites of the vanilla bugs to make them more appealing than using the same boring vanilla sprite recoloured over and over in addition to adding a few extra features. All bug jars are now interactable. When you interact with a bug jar it will release the insect it holds. You can recapture the insect with a bug net or relocator as normal. If you wish to move the jar just use the matter manipulator as normal.
This mod also adds a bug spawner which functions very similar to the moth trap but you instead attract "moth-like" insects which you can collect after an elapsed time. It will not spawn all possible bugs since just farming bugs in this fashion kinda ruins the fun. This is more intended to get your collection started or to be used as a passive income stream so you can sell the bug jars. Theres also a hornet nest which lets you harvest the hivebomb throwable item.
You can access the variety store via the 2-stop Teleshop teleporter at the outpost. There are several merchants that can take care of your landscaping needs and animal care.
Important Information
If anyone asks, when you are at the variety biodome dungeon, the insects are clones of the vanilla bugs for thematic purposes only. They are there specifically for display purposes. You cannot relocate or capture them. If you manage to spawn one outside the dungeon using the /monsterspawn admin commands and capture one using the bug net, you will not recieve an itemdrop.
So don’t complain to me about the game being broken just in case people try to do this which I know people will!
