Features
1. Torque effect : when collective is increased, the helicopter will turn to right because of the torque created by the main rotor. the torque decreases as the helicopter gains forward speed.
2. Translating tendency : If you push rudder to left to deal with Torque effect, the tail rotor will start to create its own lift and make the helicopter drife to right.
3. Translational Lift : the helicopter gains extra lift and speed as move. because of this, you don’t need to pitch down to extreme to fly forward like vanilla helicopters or other mods.
4. retreating blade stall : If you fly too fast, the helicopter will shake aggressively and you’ll lose control. Do not fly faster than the red line in the speed meter.
5. Vortex ring state : if you go down too quickly while there isn’t much forward speed, the helicopter will suddenly lose all lift and go down very quickly. The most dangerout state for helicopters.
6. Over torque & Engine overheat : if you increase the torque higher than the red line in torque meter, the engine temperature will start to increase. if it hits the limit, the engine will cause permanent engine failure. Keep watching the engine temperature and don’t go full collective all the time.
Flight stick and rudder controller are essential to fly this thing properly. If you don’t have them, fly in Arcade flight mode which deactivates pitching up caused by translational lift, torque, and engine overheat.
Forget the laughable adjustment the game claims autohover. This helicopter offers proper auto hover mode that holds the helicopter in position.
In order to engage autohover mode, the helicopter’s speed must be slower than 8. Use VSD Hover mode to slowdown helicopter easier. If you press autohover key in that moment the autohover will be engaged.
in autohover mode, the helicopter will automically control cyclic and you only need to control thottle and pedals.
The reallife apache don’t have autohover mode, so using this hover mode is considered as your copilot doing the hovering for you. you can not use autohover when there’s no copilot.
TADS is used to find target and launch weapons.
Four sight modes are availalble.
Forward fixed (keypad1) : TADS is always fixed to forward.
Manual control (keypad2) : control TADS with arrows. pressing keypad2 again let the gunner to control TADS for you.
if you move the tads to an enemy vehicle, the TADS will be locked to that target.
Pilot Helmet Sight (keypad0) : TADS follows your head, so you can attack targets with your eyes.
Gunner Helmet Sight (keypad3) : TADS follows the gunner’s head. your gunner will fire chain gun when he found a target.
IHADSS displays useful flight symbologies and weapon sights. if IHADSS is blocking your view, press slash(/) to hide it.
Apache’s most unique chain gun firing 30mm cannons.
By default it loads 1200 rounds, but mounting 8 hellfires decreases 300 rounds.
Turning on laser designator makes the turret more accurate.
you can switch the inner and outer pylon weapons by landing at helipad or waypoint and pressing arrows you can switch the weapons.
1. 38 Hydra rockets
There are 4 Hydra rockets available : M151, M247, M156, and M261.
M151 is a general high-explosive warhead to destroy soft ground targets.
M247 is a high-explosive anti-tank warhead that deals more damage to armored vehicles but has less blast radius.
M156 is a white phosphorus warhead that creates lethal white smokes.
M261 is a multi purpose sub munition warhead that spreads 9 M73 grenades.
2. AGM-114A Hellfire
Apache’s most powerful weapon. it’s so powerful that instantly kills all passengers inside the vehicle upon destruction. Use laser designator to guide the missiles.
By pressing Prone key, you can select hellfire launch mode to HI and DIR.
HI mode engages top attack that can destroy tanks with one hit, but can’t hit flying targets well.
DIR mode directly goes to laser point and can take down helicopters easier, but the damage is decreased slightly when flying straight. in order to destroy tanks with one hit you need to fly high and attack the top of the tanks.
By launching hellfire without turning on laser, the hellfire will fly up so you can perform LOAL (Lock On After Launch) action.
Max effective range is 800.
AH-64 has rotating rocket mount system to make rockets more accurate.
if you lock TADS at the target and arm rockets, the rocket steering cursor will move around. steer the helicopter to make sure the steering cursor is located at the middle of the sight. if the cursor is displayed as solid lines, that means it’s good to fire rockets. but you also have to make sure accelation cue is located at middle or the rockets won’t be accurate as their trajectory is affected by the helicopter’s movements.
The rockets are divided to 5 zones. To fire rockets, you need to select the zones using Countermeasure key + 1~5.
two countermeasure systems are available, AN/ALQ-144 IR jammer and flare dispenser.
you can activate IR jammer with ; key, and shoot flares with 4.
when IR jammer activated, it will create a heat to distract incoming missiles but it won’t be always successful, and turning on IR jammer makes enemies, especially planes to spot you much easier due to extra heats created by the jammer. It’s not a good tactic to turn on this device all the time.
Flare dispenser has 30 flares and you must land at helipad or waypoint to refill it.
by pressing L, you can switch dispensing mode to single or sequence(fires 5 flares with single press).
when dispensing flares you need to care about 3 things :
– Flares are not effective when the missile is too far or too close. you need to use it in correct range.
– hovering or flying slowly decreases the effectiveness of flares. you need to fly as fast as possible while dispensing.
– even in most optimized conditions flares may not always success to distract missiles. flying low and covering yourself is the best countermeasure.
If you are not good at managing countermeasures, let your copilot to manage them instead by pressing keypad 4.
Displays the detected threats around the helicopter.

When the vehicle is spawned inside hangers(by replacing planes), the helicopter will automically move forward to make it useable.
