Hijong Park’s OH-6A Cayuse
This is the first helicopter mod of my new helicopter modding series, made for EA26 version and further. therefore, it’s not working in EA25.

Features :
– Unmatched level of realism in helicopter flight that can’t be found in any other aircraft mods. including…
1. Torque effect : when collective is increased, the helicopter will turn to right because of the torque created by the main rotor. the torque decreases as the helicopter gains forward speed.
2. Translating tendency : If you push rudder to left to deal with Torque effect, the tail rotor will start to create its own lift and make the helicopter drife to right.
3. Translational Lift : the helicopter gains extra lift and speed as move. because of this, you don’t need to pitch down to extreme to fly forward like vanilla helicopters or other mods.
4. retreating blade stall : If you fly too fast, the helicopter will shake aggressively and you’ll lose control. Do not fly faster than the red line in the speed meter.
5. Vortex ring state : if you go down too quickly while there isn’t much forward speed, the helicopter will suddenly lose all lift and go down very quickly. The most dangerout state for helicopters.
6. Over torque & Engine overheat : if you increase the torque higher than the red line in torque meter, the engine temperature will start to increase. if it hits the limit, the engine will cause permanent engine failure. Keep watching the engine temperature and don’t go full collective all the time.
Flight stick and rudder controller are essential to fly this thing properly. If you don’t have them, fly in Arcade flight mode which deactivates pitching up caused by translational lift, torque, and engine overheat.
– M27 & XM8 Armament subsystem.
Cayuse can select two Armament system called M27 and XM8.
M27 equips a single mounted M134 minigun, with 2000 rounds. its awesome firerate speed can be useful to mow down some infantries. Minigun fires a tracer variant of 7.62×51mm NATO after every 5 regular ones, so take a look at the tracers to line up the shot.
XM8 equips a M129 40mm grenade launcher, containing 150 grenades. It’s very slow and inaccurate but can give a greater punch at group of infantries or armored vehicles.
By landing at the helipad or friendly Capture Points(with ADF frequency set properly), you can repair, rearm the weapon and pressing Space will switch between two subsystems. Use these two weapons in correct situations.
– Smoke grenades.
Pilot can throw smoke grenades by selecting second weapon. by rotating camera to right, you can throw them at the desired angles. use it to provide a quick cover for your teammates.
– M1911 handgun.
In case you had ran out of main weapon or want to scratch an infantry you missed, you can use your m1911 by selecting third weapon slot. rotate the camera to right to aim your handgun. shooting a handgun while flying is nearly impossible, but it’s better than having nothing.
– Artillery support
Copilot can call artillery support to enemy infantries or armored vehicles.
you can order your copilot to stop calling artillery with numberpad 1, and call against all types, only infantries, or only armored vehicles with numberpad 2~4.
– M134 doorgun
One person at rear seat can use M134 minigun to deal with enemy infantries from side. Door mounted Minigun has 1500 rounds and must be refilled by landing at helipad or friendly capture points. If you don’t want him to waste too much bullets, Press numberpad 5 to order stop firing and numberpad 6 to fire again.
– Landing light
In night combats or dark areas, You can use landing light to light your way. Press numberpad * to turn on landing light, and Press numberpad – and + to extract / retract it.
– No countermeasure
To make it historically accurate, this helicopter has no Countermeasures and IR receiver. However, the missile lock point is located at cayuse’s engine vent. if you don’t hover and keep moving, you can avoid the incoming missile. however if the missile was coming from far and gained enough velocity, it can be hard to avoid. in that case lure the missile into cover.
– ADF navigation
Use ADF to locate capturepoints. If you set ADF frequency to friendly point and land at there, you can request quick rearming !
– Radio
Turn on ‘Rise of the valkyries’ or ‘Fortunate Son’ with Kick(V) key !!!
**Important keys**
fire key : trigger first detent, fire minigun in 2000 RPM
mouse wheel : trigger second detent, fire minigun in 4000 RPM
Prone key (Z as default) : move XM70E1 reflex sight
Kick key (V as default) : turn on radio music
Jump key (Space as default) while rearming : switch armament system
L : toggle flashlight
Numberpad * : toggle landing light
numberpad – and + : extract / retract landing light
numberpad / : reset clock
– and = : set ADF frequency
Countermeasure key (X as default) : Smoke grenade Quick throw
Numberpad 0 : Order copilot to cease fire
Numberpad 1 : Order copilot to attack assigned target
Numberpad 2 : Order copilot to attack all / infantries / vehicles / armored
Numberpad 4 : Order gunner to open/cease fire
Numberpad 6 : armament elevation
Numberpad 6 : armament depression
H : order your squad to get into helicopter
J : order your squad to get out of helicopter
T : gather nearby allies as crew members when there are available seats
[ : Freelook mode for TrackIR and simulation mode
] : Fixed look mode and arcade mode
Sprint key(Shift as default) : Zoom in camera, increase flight altitude while being gunner
Crouch key(Ctrl as default) : Zoom out camera, decrease flight altitude while being gunner
P : Select between Simulation and Arcade flight mode
O : Change helicopter color
