-SAS-YT-1600 Heavy Miner
The Scavenger Alliance is a loose alliance between various factions of scavengers. A relationship of convenience more than trust. The alliance ensures that Scavengers can claim wrecks and salvage without fearing attack from other scavenger factions and are also protected from pirates and outlaws through strength in numbers.
The YT-1600 was developed in secret and given the code name Bicentennial Pigeon. This was done to keep the project secret from corporate rivals such as Polaris who benefitted from trade in ore and ingots to the Scavenger alliance. If Polaris or other rivals with active mining operations learned of the YT-1600’s development, it could have lead to corporate espionage or sudden and inexplicable "accidents" costing millions and delaying the project.
The secret was successful and under-budget and ahead of schedule the YT-1600 Heavy miner was born. Deployed for deep space, long term mining missions the YT is well equipped for long mining missions with ample storage, fuel capacity, and crew comforts for deployments of several months. She could also do 0.5 past light speed and is the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy.
Although it is not capable of growing its own food, fridges should be stocked well ahead of the departure.
A small hangar bays allows a small HV and/or SV to dock for planetary expeditions, meanwhile the 9 laser mining drills on the offset mining rig will eat entire asteroids in mere seconds.
There is space CPU capacity for 3 automated mining drills for Ice or rich asteroid mining. Add additional CPU to increase defensive capacity although the YT-1600 does come with 20k+ shield capacity giving you plenty of time to escape from sneaky Toveras.
An on-board deconstructor can process those heavier ores from automated mining while the Advanced and small constructors can work on regular Ore processing or any general construction needs.
Additional upgrade such as extra generators, fuel, storage etc can be added in the rear section, simply remove the blocks marked with X to access the rear crawl spaces.
The YT-1600 came as a surprise and a bit of a shock to Polaris and while it has soured relations a little, trade continues and no evidence or suspicion of corporate espionage has been found so far. Polaris will continue to trade as normal albeit with slightly less expectation of Ore trade with the SA. SA however predict a 20% increase in profits thanks to the YT-1600 now removing their reliance on Polaris Mining operations for raw resources.
