Backstories for Vanilla Expanded Factions
Woah, I can’t wait to try this cool scenario included with Vanilla Expanded Factions – Medieval! I can roleplay an exiled Lord and his noble knights. Wait… Why are they all tribals? This sucks! And those knights from the invading faction?! They’re tribals too?!
Many, if not most, wont be aware that Vanilla Factions Expanded Medieval actually has some custom medieval backstories, which sadly no-one will see, due to them requiring a "no-longer available on Steam, and broken if you get it on GitHub" mod called [RF] Editable Backstories and Names 1.1 to be active, for the patches to apply and the backstories available. Finding and activating the mod gives you wacky adult backstories, such as game developer and intergalactic pilot (hence the broken part). Additionally, there’s several fitting backstories already in Rimworld that would be great for the Medieval Faction features, but go unused due to how the mod was coded (for justifiable reasons)
This mod takes the medieval themed backstories from Rimworld, the custom ones from VFE Medieval, and the wonderful ones made by RainbeauFlambe for the long-dead EBN mod, and with the power of HumanoidAlienRaces, makes them apply to the Medieval Scenario and Faction from VFE Medieval.
It does duplicate the Vanilla backstories that fit, but it doesn’t affect anything un-towards.
You NEED to use Vanilla Factions Expanded – Medieval and HumanoidAlienRaces 2.0 for this to work. I plan to add/restrict backstories for the other VFE mods too, so that they can be more fun to play. please leave some suggestions below. Eventually I will update it so you can run it without requiring VFE:Medieval, when I add stuff for the other factions.

Q: Why does this require HumanoidAlienRaces? Seems weird/random, why not implement your own framework or use another mod?
A: Vanilla Rimworld doesn’t allow you to edit backstories by default. There’s a few mods I am aware of that include assembles to add custom backstories to the game, however they come with a bunch of backstories I don’t care about. I already use HumanoidAlienRaces (as I imagine most players do) so I thought I’d use the framework available in that for this mod! If you are aware of a 1.2 compatible mod that JUST adds the framework for adding backstories, let me know and I’ll possibly update this mod.

A: I guess you’re right, however since RainbeauFlambe’s mod is long dead and doesnt work, I’ve taken what I’ve needed and included it here, with credit! The Vanilla Faction Expanded – Medieval backstories are straight up unavailable, plus this mod needs it to work anyway, so I figure it’s fine?
