NOTE: This hasn’t been tested extensively with The Color of Madness, but it should work fine.

This edits the Courtyard to act as a regular region throughout the game and does away with the invitation system. Red Hook actually has most of the code already there to do so but it was likely only used for testing purposes before they completed the main story content.

The first mission is still scripted and will trigger as normal, but afterwards the Courtyard will be a normal region that you have to level up in order to get to the bosses. The boss maps are also no longer pre-generated but are the same size as regular boss maps, and do not save your progress if you retreat. Infestation and the Crimson Curse will proceed the same as before, but invitations will no longer drop since they’re not needed.

A few things you should know before using this mod:

– Only use with a new game, it will work with a game in progress but may be a bit buggy

– Do not use with other gameplay mods, such as Courtyard+. It is meant to be used by itself with the base game and I can’t guarantee what will happen if you do

– English only, becuase I had to add in some missing text strings for the Courtyard

– No Wayne June voiceovers for the start and end of most Courtyard quests because the assets don’t exist

Change list compared to the standard Crimson Court experience:

– After doing the introductory mission, the Courtyard opens up as a standard region with its own missions (Short, Medium and Long Explore and Cleanse missions, Medium Activate and Gather missions and Medium Boss missions)

– Invitations do not drop. Baron, Viscount and Countess missions unlock at dungeon levels 3, 5 and 7 respectively and are Medium-sized random Boss missions. They still clear the Crimson Curse when beaten

– Gather the Blood is now a regular quest, medium-length and also gives the +15% virtue chance town event when completed

– Burn the Hives is now a regular quest (after the first one), medium-length and gives +33% Resolve XP and +15% DMG in the Courtyard on Next Quest. Quest torches stack at 1 now to be consistent with other activate quests

– Collector can spawn in the Courtyard on all difficulty missions as he can in other regions

– The Crocodilian can spawn as a hallway fight in Veteran or higher dungeons, 1% on Veteran and 3% on Champion/Darkest. He works like a Collector or Shambler in that he only appears once and won’t come back if you run (he drops a CC trinket if you can beat him though). As he’s now a roaming mini-boss his HP has been reduced a bit to make him more manageable

– Garden Guardians are Darkest difficulty missions now

– Prisoner rooms can spawn in the Courtyard randomly in place of regular secret rooms (which can also spawn)

For those who want to keep the regular boss dungeons:

Replace crimson_court.quest.plot_quests.json in the mod folder (which is probably at "C:Program Files (x86)Steamsteamappsworkshopcontent262060962355917campaignquest") with the contents of here:

You can just choose to download the file and replace it that way, but make sure you save it as "all files" type and remove the .txt extension from the end.

Note that you’ll have to do it again if the mod updates, so you should save a local copy as backup. Also, make sure that the Baron / Viscount / Countess quest has not already spawned or else the game might crash if you change the file.
