Better Book of Secrets
Are you tired of one of the game’s worst items clogging up the secret room and library pools? Think that Repentance’s buff didn’t really improve it at all?
This mod completely overhauls the effects of the book. Its old effects have been lost, and have been replaced with:
- Every floor has a secret hidden in one of its normal, non-special rooms.
- Using the book outside of this room will tell you which direction the room with the secret lies.
- If you are five or more rooms away from the room with the secret, then a secret room will also be revealed on the map (first the secret, then super secret, then ultra secret).
- Using the book inside this room will grant you one of the following rewards:
- A rock will be destroyed, and reveal a crawlspace trapdoor beneath
- A normal rock will be destroyed, and drop rewards as if it were a super secret rock
- A pot, mushroom, or skull will be destroyed, and be guaranteed to drop one of its rare natural drops (such as a Quarter, or Magic Mushroom)
- An old chest (like those from Isaac’s Tomb) will be dug up
- After receiving a reward, a new secret will appear in a different room on the floor. (only one non-chest secret can be found each floor, though with enough uses unlimited chests can be)
- This effect can be used on a 4-room charge.
With this new effect, the Book of Secrets should become something you look forward to seeing, instead of dreading.
