Description:

Changes socii units like Samnite Hastati to population class foreigner. Compatible with noniac’s Roman legions. Load this above the script fix.

People have said that the population feature is meant as more of a gameplay mechanic than a realistic representation of social classes in antiquity, and that the socii units should therefore be patricii so you won’t spam elite units at essentially free pop cost. But if you don’t exploit it by spamming Pedites Extraordinarii, it’s technically more accurate. (By definition, socii weren’t roman citizens.) Whether you prefer it one way or the other is a matter of taste and I think this option should be available. The AI is not affected by pop costs, so it won’t ruin their army composition.
I find that it actually fits in better gameplay-wise to have these units as a ‘cheap’ pop cost alternative to your core units. The mod now also changes a few AOR units to peregrini, when that fits better from a roman perspective. For instance units like Sicilian Slingers would have been foreigners.

Compatibility is likely limited to DeI 1.3, because these script files have to be updated for the units of that particular version. If you use this with another DeI version, all units will have the manpower values of 1.3.
I likely won’t be around to update this when DeI updates, but all you have to do to update it is to compare the text of this file and the new manpower/units.lua from DeI in Meld-merge and change all the "allied" entries in the new file to 4 like in this file.
