A-10 Thunderbolt II "Warthog" Ground Attack Aircraft
The Fairchild Republic A-10 Thunderbolt II, also known as the "Warthog" is a close air support, ground attack aircraft designed to target vehicles, buildings, communication arrays, and other militarily significant ground targets. This recreation is slightly larger than the real aircraft, but comes complete with many of the features of the real aircraft.
Features:
– Full Weapon Suite
– Realistic Cockpit Layout
– 350 Km Range
– Engine Fire Suppression Systems
– Altitude Hold
– Roll Stabilization
– Pylon Selection/Drop System
– Head-Up Display
– Ejection Seat
– Flaps and Split-Aleron Airbrake System
– In-Air refueling probe
Weapons:
GAU – 8/A Avenger 30mm Rotary Cannon: Fires 1350 depleted-uranium-cored, armor piercing shells at 4,200 rounds per minute. [Non-Functional In Game]
Rockeye Mk.20 Cluster Bombs: Small bombs which break up into even smaller bomblets designed for a large area of effect. Each pylon can carry up to 6, with this A-10 carrying 12. [Non-Functional In Game]
AGM 114 Hellfire Missiles: Air to Ground missiles designed with a trajectory intended to impact ground targets from a high angle. Each pylon can carry 2, with this A-10 carrying 4. [Non-Functional In Game]
16B/B "Firebomb" Thermobaric Bomb: A bomb designed to spread fuel in a wide area. In game, this bomb disperses a wide radius of high-velocity, high-temperature flares, which can ignite flammable targets. [Functional In Game]
ECM Pod: A Electronic Counter Measures jamming pod which transmits static on all channels and frequencies, designed to disrupt the communication and control of other radio-controlled vehicles in game.
Startup Instructions:
NOTE: Brakes are on by default to prevent sliding, and they must be disengaged before takeoff
1. Enter Cockpit, close canopy
2. Turn on main power breaker [Pilot’s Right]
3. Activate Engine 1 and 2 Fuel pumps [Pilot’s Left]
4. Activate Engine 1 and 2
5. Bring throttle up to 40 for Idle
6. Disengage brakes [Center Panel, to the Left] and taxi slowly onto the runway
7. Increase throttle and gently pull up
Pylon Selection and Drop Instructions:
If you wish to jettison a pylon, such as an empty fuel tank or depleted weapon rack, look at the note stating the pylon order, select the pylon number, and press the pylon disconnect button.
Flight Characteristics:
Due to the offset thrust produced by the A-10’s Large, high-mounted tubojet engines, the "Warthog" has a difficult time gaining altitude. Due to this characteristic, as well as the heavy load of weapons the A-10 carries, a longer runway is needed. If takeoff from a shorter runway is necessary, take off with limited fuel, and refuel while in flight to increase flight range.
NOTE: Issues with design
This vehicle is fragile, if it impacts anything on takeoff, in flight, or on landing, the landing gear may collapse, or the wings may fold. Additionally, while the brakes are disengaged, the aircraft slowly rotates. This is an unfortunate byproduct of on game physics. Sorry for the inconvenience.
This is my first Stormworks Workshop upload, I hope you like it!
