Are you tired of not being able to have a smooth and relaxing experience playing as/against the vikings, the church, or anything in Europe because of 69 simultaneous wars going on in Asia, the Middle East, and Africa?
Are you tired of having your game slow down heavily after just about 50 years into your playthrough because of some characters with ridiculously large families from parts of the map you never cared about and that you will probably never even go to anyway?
Are you tired of being reminded of how bad your PC is for not being able to run the entire game without having every in-game day go by almost as slowly as a real day?
If you answered yes to any of this questions, then this is the mod for you.
EUROPA gets rid of anything outside the borders of Europe (with the exception of Jerusalem, Turkey, Syria, and Egypt) with the main goal of achieving peak performance for a nice, fast and smooth gameplay.
This is NOT meant to be used for historical games, as events like the Rise of the Mongols, anything related to the Islamic faiths, and pretty much anything outside of the borders of Europe is probably not going to be working properly, so as long as you plan on having a game that takes place almost exclusively in Europe, an event that happens within the territories displayed in the shown pictures, or just a random game with shattered realms, you will have the experience of a lifetime.
What is the difference between Saramello’s mod, Eurocentric mod, and this mod?
Compared with Eurocentric and all 3 versions of Saramello’s mod, EUROPA is by far the most restrictive of them all. While Eurocentric and Saramello’s do get rid of a lot of counties deemed not important or not as important, they still leave some (and in some versions even plenty) of room to play outside of continental Europe with a boost to your performance. My version is clear in its intention, it erases pretty much everything that is not in Europe for the maximum performance possible in an exclusively european playthough, so this is not a mod you want to leave on all the time unless you are sure you will not get outside of these borders during your gameplay.
Other minor difference is that for some reason, Saramello’s versions erase the Soumi, Finnish and some Russian kingdoms, as a Europe only mod, this kingdoms remain untouched and you can play them freely.
There are religious sites that are not existent / inaccessible, why is that?
What the mod does is really just deleting the ID’s to prevent the titles from being read by the game, therefore making them unplayable and unreachable. If in your playthrough you adopt a religion that has some or all of its religious sites outside of the borders of Europe, you will not be able to take it, no matter what you do. This however should not be a problem is you are playing with european religions. Norse, Baltic, Christian, or anything that is mainly practiced in mainland Europe should not have a problem with holy sites as they will always be reachable.
If this is EUROPA, why are Turkey, Syria, Egypt, and Jerusalem availiable?
The main reason why I decided to keep these in the game is because of the Christian fates. Jerusalem always spawns a holy site, Egypt I believe does so as well. Anatolia is kept to leave land access to these regions, and also to not have only half a Byzantine Empire.
Can you make a version so that X, Y or Z is accessible again? This is just too limited for me.
Again, this is just my version of the mod, custom made so that it fits my needs. The main reason I made it is because neither Saramello’s nor Eurocentric really got everything I needed for my view of a pleasant experience, but I thought that maybe, this is what someone else is also looking for to have a better experience, that is why I uploaded it. If you don’t find my version to be exactly what you need, I legitimately encourage you to check out Eurocentric or Saramello’s versions which are much less restrictive than mine. EUROPA is just what fits my preferences and gives me the most performance possible.
Will you give it support? / Can you update it pls?
More likely than not, no. However, EUROPA doesn’t really change anything that is not title ID’s. As long as Paradox doesn’t modify the main game with more title ID’s in an update or expansion, then this should still work, but no guarantees are given there.
Update: To be honest, I was surprised by the reach this little mod got, I didn’t really believed a mod of this sort would get this many people interested in it. Take this update as a little thank you to all of you. Will I update it again? Who knows, but enjoy it while it works, and let’s hope it does for a good while.
Why does Wessex own everything outside Europe?
It doesn’t. This is just how the game decided to represent the missing titles. It is a graphical issue only seen in the default map mode, that means it goes away in any other map mode, but aside from the color of the map, it has no real game impact. Even if it appears as if Wessex owns it, it cannot build or access any of the land it supposedly does, so no worries.
Why did you create another mod, instead of updating the original one?
Because the Paradox Launcher was being a little B and just didn’t want to collaborate, so I had to do this instead.
