will also require all DLC I believe.

I’ve played probably every starting units mod since the launch of this trilogy and props to those modders because without them I wouldn’t be here. That being said most of them just throw in a whole bunch of elite units that tank your economy into the red and ruin all challenge in the early game. There were a few gems that came closer to keeping the overall balance and economy but just for me at least didn’t hit the mark. So after an intense amount of research, consideration, testing and the actual modding I bring you SAR

Every single unit included in every lord’s starting army was considered and in many cases changed to other units. This is my first modding project but I did lots of testing and it works and should be compatible with anything that isn’t a start_pos mod

If you want to create your own starting units it’s not difficult if you have a guide but may take some time(both links are same guide first one is web link second is steam link)

So my criteria for how to change the composition of starting armies and the units contained therein are as follows:

-More thematic/ loreful
-Better synergy
-Better roster variety throughout the different factions of any race
-Change early game balance as little as possible, (ultimately going to be more powerful, partially just due to synergy)
-Lords get the units they have unique buffs for
-Tank starting income as little as possible

On that last bit about upkeep…easily the most annoying part and it’s still not perfect but I just need to publish this mod for now. some criteria for that…
-starting income should not be below 700 on turn 1 when you load in
-Nakai and WOC cant be in the red on turn 1 when you load in
-Brettonia has a great economy so I was like eh to that first criteria and let it drop a bit lower, also I gave Wurrzag a rogue idol so…

OTHER NOTES-
-I also considered singe’s skills mod but less so than my other criteria
-There are a few lords I made almost no changes to like Imrik and Kemmler
-A.I. also has these units making fighting them more interesting
-I tried to only give ror’s where they clearly either belong to the LL, the faction or the region at start but a few exceptions were made, LMK if you think they should just be regular unit
-lizardmen have all types of blessed units spread amonst the lords, no regular versions included
-Each tomb king has one of the four mortuary cult units
-Gave some waagh units to greenskin lords where appropriate
-For karl/volkmar, thorgrim/grombrindal, and vlad/Isabella you see most of their army because, they share the table that contains all the units that dont show up on the faction selection screen under additonal units. Though they also had to have at least one unit in that shared table that are not shown. Mannfred/Ghorst also share the tables but I just decided they would have the same units since who plays Ghorst anyways?

So instead of continueing to slave to try to get this perfect, I give it unto you fine people. Please leave comments and thoughts so together we can rule the galaxy…
-Should I change Imrik’s sun dragon for a star dragon?(it’s expensive)
-How come no WE have forest dragon? (it’s expensive)
-Is Throt OP with that many monsters? (He did the monster mash)
-Holy shnikes a dread saurian at the start so i’ll actually use one in my campaign? (Crikey)
-Tic Tacs actually has an air force, now all he needs is a ranged attack like skink chiefs or a ripperdactyl mount so that he’s not crap (Preach)

Anywho will I update this in the future? If you guys have good suggestions than mos def but also I think the data tables I was working with might reset every patch. If that’s the case don’t expect much, even though I could probably make this in a quarter of the time if I were to redo it again. It was still a lot of work.
