Nordvinden v1.21
"Something is rotten in the state of Denmark." -Bernardo, Act I of the Tragedy of Hamlet, Prince of Denmark
As of November 1444, a prince of the German family "von Wittlesbach" has recently ascended the throne of the Arch-Kingdom of Denmark, head of the Kalmar union. With this foreign prince on Denmark’s throne, the people of Sweden and Norway yearn for independent sovereignty. And so, begins the soaring tension between Denmark and Sweden, and potentially between Denmark and Norway as well.
Will you, as Denmark, maintain the Kalmar union and continue to assert authority over the north? Will you create a Swedish Empire and reign over the Baltic Sea, revive the Viking Age with Norway, or restore Finnish pride and free mighty Finland from oppressive Swedish rule?
I have been expertly staring at the map of Europa Universalis for a few years, and have relied on several map mods for better province density and flavor. However, I have always noticed that Scandinavia, home to Paradox Studios, recieves little to no love.
This changes now! This mod aims to enhance a player’s experience in "North Wind" by doing a clean makeover of the provinces in the region, additional (fairly historical) cultures to the Scandinavian region, and the revival of the Finno-Ugric culture group.
Features:
4 provinces added to Denmark,
4 provinces added to Sweden,
3 provinces added to Norway,
3 provinces added to Iceland,
9 provinces added to Finland.
6 provinces added to Estonia
5 provinces added to Latvia
3 provinces added to Lithuania
3 provinces added to Prussia
New Tags: Scania, Gotaland, Osel-Wiek, and Dorpat.
Finnish, Karelian, and Estonian cultures moved to Finno-Ugric group
New cultures include: Geatish (can be assimilated into Swedish rather quickly), Icelandic, Scanian (extinct but can be revived through Scania tag), Gotlander, Livonian, and Curonian.
New decision to form Livland (Livonia) as Livonian order instead of Kurland
New Areas to account for additional provinces
