Description:
Fidel Casserole’s Petrofuture America

A map of continental America, but after climate change ravaged the planet. On June 30th, 2022, the US Supreme Court weakened the Environmental Protection Agency’s ability to regulate greenhouse emissions. This firmly placed climate policy in the hands of fossil fuel companies. In this timeline, unregulated fossil fuel consumption resulted in a catastrophic 2.5 degrees Celsius increase in average Earth temperatures. As a result, the ice caps completely melted and resulted in a 66 meter increase of sea levels, the highest predicted by the IPCC if all the ice sheets melted.

Rivers like the Mississippi, St. Lawrence & Colorado River flooded hundreds of miles inland. Increased desertification caused crops to fail and large areas to fall under drought. Many species (luxury resources) died off. A drier soil composition, resulted in many rivers being prone to flooding more easily, especially the few rivers remaining in the desert. How will you rebuilt this heated Earth?
