There’s this event chain in the game that let’s you get the Crusader State government reform as Orleans. The premise is that after the canonization of Joan of Arc, a local order of Catholic Nuns took over the government and turned it into an enatic theocracy with female generals, admirals and advisors.

The only way in which Paradox failed is that Orleans would still get male rulers, as the game doesn’t have a way to control the gender of the ruler. As a workaround I created a new Order of Saint Joan government reform which lets generals become rulers.

The other way in which I changed the original event chain is by lowering the time until the final event of the chain. By default you would get this government reform at least 200 years into the game, and I changed that to around 5 to 10 years. Let’s just say in this timeline the Catholic Church is more willing to take responsibility for their crimes.

I wanted to add the Theocrat vs. Militarist mechanic as it was fitting, but it conflicted with the Generals as Rulers mechanic so instead I used Militarized Society. It might be a bit too powerful; I’ll remove it if I get enough feedback on it.

Also you don’t lose the government reform if you want to form another country so you get to enjoy that juicy French mission tree.

Lead your nation in the name of Saint Joan of Arc. Have a good one.

Future plans:

Planning to add a Matriarchal Deposition CB inspired by the one from CK2.

Thinking on reusing the holy order mechanics that iberians have access to with Golden Century, but it’s not a fleshed out idea just yet.
