Support Independence Fix
Wait, was Support Independence broken?
Technically, no.
Support Independence does increase a chance of a vassal to declare independence(and bringing in the agreeing faction into the war). But this often was not enough to counteract other modifiers (happy vassals, or vassals so weak they are terrified of their masters),
However, the implementation of it meant that it was not working as a tool to break apart Vassal swarms….lookin’ at you Yuan Shao!
So how does it work?
This mod is a simple script. At the start of each turn, it checks for any non-human vassal faction (excluding the Han Empire) with the "Support Independence" agreement. There is a 5% chance that this faction will declare independence.
Why not the Han Empire?
Figured this faction is supposed to be a vassal tied to the emperor pawn – so best to not have them declaring independence.
Does this affect the AI?
Yes. The diplomacy agreement should ensure that the consequences of the secession are properly enacted.
Does the chance increase if a vassal has multiple "Support Independence" deals?
No, whether it’s one or 10 – it will always be 5% per turn.
OK – so run me through an example – how do I break up Yuan Shaos vassal swarm?
1. Go to diplomacy – select the vassal – do what you gotta do to get them to agree to your support independence.
2. Carry on with your campaign, and prepare for the possible eventuality that this vassal could flip sides at any point and bring you into a war!
