Overview:
This is a AC/DC electric locomotive that has been manufactured by Japan Freight Railway (JR Freight) since 1997.
The H-type locomotives with two permanently fixed bodies were designed to run on the steep slopes of the Kunimi and Jusanbongi passes on the Tohoku Main Line and the continuous slopes of the Seikan Tunnel, which required high adhesion without increasing the axle weight.
