This mod aims to remove the hassle of doing introductory quest without affecting the rest of the main storyline (so you still have to do racial scans and defeat the Ruin). These are the features:

  • Start with repaired ship right off the bat
    (you can travel to other systems immediately as long as you have fuel);
  • Teleport directly to Outpost after booting up your ship;
  • No longer need to collect 20 Core Fragments to repair the Ancient Gate;
  • Shops in the Outpost (including mechs!) are unlocked right off the bat as if you have completed the Erchius Facility quest;
  • No longer need to do the Outpost scanning, just talk right to Esther;
  • Truly optional Erchius Mining Facility quest! Jump straight to artifacts collection quests.

The Erchius quest has been made as a side-quest,
which means you can progress through the main story without ever touching that quest!

Compatible with Frackin’ Universe (FU)?

YES! Right off the bat!

This mod will not only makes the Erchius quest optional, but also make the Vinalisj introduction quest in FU (the one where you have to make crafting tables) COMPLETELY OPTIONAL!

You can tell that white alien guy to shut up and go straight to the cavern!

SORRY! FU update broke compatibility again. Please ask FU team to make it compatible as the issue is on their end.

Q: Can we still find core fragments in the mine?

Yes.

Q: Does this skip the Erchius quest in the main story?

Yes. It’s now a side-quest.

You also don’t need to do Erchius quest to repair your ship, unlock mech, and scan for 3D printer.

Q: I still have to complete the mining facility quest, even with this mod?

Not anymore! Read the question just above.

Q: Penguin Pete won’t repair my ship!

Install this mod with NEW character. Because the ship is repaired when you boot your ship for the first time. Not by Penguin Pete.

There’s a solution though: type "/admin" (without the double quote) in your chat to enable admin mode. Then type "/spawnitem shipT3". You’ll get an item, use it. Type "/admin" again to disable admin mode.

Q: I’ve picked up the quest from Penguin Pete, then I install this mod. Why do I still have to do the quest?

Install this mod with NEW character.

There’s a solution though:
– Type "/admin" (without the double quote) in your chat to enable admin mode.
— Type "/completequest human_mission1".
— Type "/setuniverseflag outpost_mission1".
— Type "/spawnitem shipT3", then use the item spawned.
– Type "/admin" again to disable admin mode.

Q: It seems this mod unlocks all characters in the outpost (Nuru, Tonauac, Lana, Koichi).

Not caused by this mod. You might have another character in the save file that already completes all story mission.

Q: My outpost sidequest/scanning tool/etc is broken!!!!!

Not caused by this mod.

The files modified by this mod are:

  • Ancient Console object (the one below the Ancient Gate)
  • Ancient Console interface
  • Ship’s tech stations (all races, not including modded ones)
  • Quest and tutorial radio messages
  • Introduction quests, which are: bootship (booting the ship after you escape earth), gaterepair (repairing ancient gate with core fragments), shiprepair (repairing your ship in Penguin Pete), mechunlok (unlocking mech shop), human_mission1 (Erchius Quest), and outpostclue (scanning the outpost) missions.

Any other changes outside of those mentioned above are not caused by this mod.

Q: I’ve read the FAQ and the mod is still not working.

Help me help you! Paste your starbound.log to pastebin.com. The file starbound.log is located in C:Program Files (x86)SteamSteamAppscommonStarboundstorage. Post the pastebin link here, and I’ll try to see the problem.
