Colosseum: new mechanic for dark elves (BETA)
Introduction
Inspired by the Altdorf Imperial Zoo mod from prop joe , I present you this new mechanic for dark elves: Colosseum. All 5 dark elves faction has access to this mechanic.
This mechanic allows dark elves to capture beasts after battles (as they have beast masters). The captured beasts can be tamed in the colosseum into recruitable beast units, as well as providing different buffs.
Feature
- In total 72 different beast units from various factions are added into the colosseum. Each one has a unique buff for taming
- Unlock the beast by defeating an army with the corresponding beast units or mounts
- Put the captured beast into the colosseum taming slot to tame them. It takes 5 turns and 2000 golds for a beast/beasts to be tamed. The beasts being tamed will also provide unique faction-wide and/or units-specific buffs.
- After 5 turns, the corresponding beasts will be added into the ROR recruitment pool
- Each faction start with one taming slot and could be upgraded to 4 slots through upranking the faction leader (one slot each at rank 10, 20 and 30).
- 72 beast units are classified into 7 categories, depending on the category of the beast in taming slot 1, a correponding faction-wide effect (campaign movement and public order) will be added on top of the effect of individual beasts
- Changed the beast master "whiplash" ability to heal 672 hp on each use. Making him more suitable for leading a beast army.
- All 72 beast units can benifit from tech and lord skills. Expendable and low-tier Beasts beasts are sharing tech and skills with harpies. Common and Fierce Beasts share with manicores, Rare and Elite Beasts share with Hydras and Legendary Beasts are treated as Black Dragons.
Todo
This is just a BETA version. I have many ideas to add on top, but I will be super busy for a few months. Therefore, I am releasing the BETA version for people to test and to collect feedback.
- To give the tamed beast as mount options for dark elve lords and heros. Elves have a fruitful list of animations, which allows them to be mounted on many different beasts.
- To give unit upgrade options based on the tamed beast. Ideally the beasts could be not only used in the Colosseum for faction-wide effects, but also allow each unit to talor their upgrades based on the tamed beast.
- Rework dark elve beast master to be more focused on boosting beasts.
- To create a new dark elve faction focusing on capture and taming beasts. Ideally could use "rakarth" as a legendary beast master and build a faction around him. Give Colosseum to him as his unique faction mechanic
