Description:

Heavily based on the Boeing X-32 prototype aircraft, the X-51 Shark is a delta winged VTOL fighter that can do almost any mission, from any type of base.

Over a month of time has been spent on this aircraft to make sure that it is fully ready and capable of performing in all environments competently, while delivering on the promised mission set. X-51 can even fly underwater for short periods of time, pilot withstanding that is.

Multi-Mission Capability

Take off from a helipad, carrier, or airfield and be able to fulfill any of these missions (given the ordinance).

Air to Air Combat
For a standard dogfight, load up on a mix of Photon missiles (close range) and Copium missiles (long range) to become a formidable foe to whoever you come across. Even while fully loaded up on 8 missiles, the thrust vectoring system and fly by wire system will keep every move accurate and stable, even with uneven payload and low framerate environments.

Air Superiority
In the modern battlefield, close-in dogfights are rare. Targets are more easily defeated from a safe range with beyond-visual-range (BVR) missiles. Even with such small size, the X-51 is capable of loading up on 6x Copium long range missiles, and 2x short range Photons on the wingtips. To assist in target identification at long ranges, the imaging pod is able to zoom in and track targets up to 12km away. This is also helpful in confirming that the target has been destroyed.

Air Defense/Combat Air Patrol
An air combat or air superiority loadout is recommended, but in air defense, how long you can stay in the air is crucial. With 8000L of fuel, you can hover for 5 hours, or fly up to 600km on a tank.

Ground Attack/Close Air Support
Using the triple missile launcher, you can load up on 12 general purpose air to ground missiles (AGM), and still have four pylons left for any air combattants that may threaten you.

Datalink System

The Advanced Data Link System (ADLS) offers the ability for shared target information between aircraft, integrated with an IFF (Identify friend or foe) system that allows for greatly increased situational awareness between pilots, as well as the ability to guide future GPS guided ordinance from either your own aircraft or other aircraft, and also future air and surface launched cruise missiles.

Ordinance

The preinstalled ordinance load is competent, but not specialized in any way. Jack of all trades, master of none. If you plan to bring this aircraft into harm’s way, PLEASE use the select tool to remove the weapons you don’t need, and substitute them with ones that you do.

4x NNTC “Photon” AAM

Tried and tested, reliable and accurate short range AAM. If this missile locks on, it’s going to be game over for your enemy. Fire between 2.5km and 1.0km.

2x NNTC “Copium” AAM

The newest missile from NNTC, Copium brings the ability to fire at targets from crazy ranges, without the need for targeting pods or other SARH systems. This weapon will be available in the workshop on its own soon. As a long range standoff weapon, fire this between 8.9km and 2.5km.

6x NNTC “Shock” (Modified) AGM

A modified version of the Shock missile, this little thing offers excellent accuracy for attacking ground targets. It can easily track fast ships, and do good damage to them too. Don’t dismiss the small warhead, even medium sized ships can be taken down with a good hit to the ammo rack! Fire between 2.5km and 0.5km.
