How to quickly obtain any of the materials used:

Head to Mt. FullMoon and camp there. Go to the bottom right corner of the map, pray at the gate and the "Ruins of Taiyi" is now unlocked from the start.
Go to and camp at the Ruins of Taiyi and collect a pile of spirit stone blocks and Marble blocks, along with whatever other materials you like.
Cut down Spiritwood from your home map, or camp and enter at Mistwood Forest – Mt. Tiger Paw for some.
Adventure at Mt. Barren for Cotton to turn into cloth, or camp and enter at Reed Village – Central Plain for ready made cloth of all types.

* Beginner Fire cultivator setup:
Camp or adventure at Jadestone Cliff – Mt. Shu, or camp and enter at Glimmer Cave – Mt Shu for Igneocopper bars.

* Beginner Earth cultivator setup:
Camp or adventure at Jadestone Cliff – Mt. Shu, or camp and enter at Glimmer Cave – Mt Shu for Igneocopper ore.
Camp and enter at Mirage Wastelands – Great Desert, or kill any Lushu, Fei, or demonic beast for Beast Blood to craft Fire Essence bars.
Camp or adventure at Blizzard Plains – The Great Snowland, or camp and enter at Galepeak Town – Riverbank Plains for Ice Crystal bars.
Get Marble blocks from the Ruins of Taiyi.

* Beginner Wood cultivator setup:
Camp or adventure at Blizzard Plains – The Great Snowland for Ice Crystal ore.
Camp and enter at Mirage Wastelands – Great Desert, or kill any Lushu, Fei, or demonic beast for Beast Blood to craft Ice Essence bars.
Camp or adventure at Jadestone Cliff – Mt. Shu, or camp and enter at Glimmer Cave – Mt Shu for Igneocopper bars.

* Beginner Metal cultivator setup:
Camp and enter at Sunstop Town – Riverbank Plains for Jade Essence.
OPTIONAL: Have two inner disciples pick up any one Feces each into their inventory, make both of them camp and enter at Wyvern Pool – Mt. Lucian, find the steele, make both of them eat their feces and talk to the steele to reach a secret area containing 9 Dragon Feces – the best qi gathering Earth item in the game!

* ALL intermediate cultivator setups:
Initiate talks with Kunlun Palace at Mt. Kunlun, buy access to their territory for 200 spirit stone’s worth of goods, and then go camp and enter at Mt. Kunlun. Locate an "Altar of Magic" in their sect, select it and choose to ‘observe’ it in order to learn how they are built.

* Intermediate Fire cultivator setup:
All the beginner materials, PLUS:
Camp and enter at Phoenix Cliff – Mt Lucian for 2 Phoenixwood and Millspine Forest – Mt. Blackstone for 1 more.

* Q&A:
* "There’s no beginner water or intermediate metal cultivator rooms!"
True! This is because there are no beginner materials for water cultivators (so it is not recommended to start with the water law, among other reasons) and there are no intermediate materials for metal cultivators – a metal cultivator can jump straight to a more advanced setup very quickly and will have no use for an intermediate setup.

* "What are the 4 Spiritwoods at the outer edges of the array for?"
They are for Manual Qi Bursting (MQB) which is a very useful technique that is highly recommended you learn how to do. A well done MQB can improve your Golden Core sizes by as much as 30%(!) or so depending on how efficient your cultivation array is, vs not doing it at all.

* "Why is there a ring of white tiles in the room?"
That is where your range 5 qi gathering items will eventually go, once you get some of those. The only early to mid game range 5 ‘item’ is the Giant Ginko though, so they are placeholders for when you get more resources and have late game range 5 items to place so you know where to put them.

* "The cultivation room base is missing one white tile, why is that?"
That is so you can put your room over a Giant Ginko tree if you have one (for fire cultivator setups) without destroying the tree. If the array does not involve a Giant Ginko tree, simply put one tile of white carpet over the empty spot.

* "Can I build these cultivation rooms close together?"
You could physically, but you should not do so. Qi gathering arrays gather Qi from the surroundings and putting your arrays too close together will cause them to interfere with each other and cause anomalies that can slow or stop cultivation progress. It is therefore recommended that you keep at least 3 or 5 tiles of space to the left and right between these cultivation rooms, and 2 tiles of free space if you stack them in a vertical column.

* "What is the nook at the top of the room for?"
There is one range 7 qi gathering item in the game, the unique Spirit Pagoda. When you eventually manage to acquire it, you can put it on a stand at the very top of the room to enjoy its benefits.
