Stadler FLIRT Nordic (Type 76)
Bi-Mode Regional Train for Winter Conditions
The FLIRT Nordic is a variation of Stadler’s FLIRT line that was specifically designed for the harsh Nordic climate. The first trains were delivered to the Norwegian Vy in 2020 to begin testing. The Type 76 trains are bi-mode units that can draw power from an overhead catenary as well as a diesel generator when a catenary is not available. Like other Stadler models, they feature the famous "Power Pack" generator car which is permanently married to adjacent cars. They can also be manufactured in low-floor and high-floor variations.
