The Maelstrom Reforged
The Maelstrom is an All-purpose Carrier, Factory, Miner, and Assault Vessel.
Built for Speed and Practical space, The Maelstrom Assault Carrier combines the best aspects of every ship type into a single cohesive design, Massive space, Massive hauling & storage capacity, Blazing speeds and turning ability, combined with Dozens of fully retractable turret positions and an excellent First-person flying experience for precision coring and CV to CV combat.
The Maelstrom uses a super-light armoring system of Combat Steel wrapped frontal decoys enscorced inside of retractable turret walls to draw fire to specific hardpoints on the ship, it has redundant built-in 2×1 generator decoys and a low-slung Warp drive to keep enemy fire away from your cockpit and vital power sources & components. The ship can take significant punches to the front end and is resilient to being knocked out of operation via it’s redundant generators and frontal decoys.
Despite its massive size and carry capacity, the Maelstrom is one of, if not THE fastest Core9 CV built for reforged Eden, with yaw, Pitch and Roll at 90+ and Omnidirectional speeds of 150+ m/s. The ship has the full spread of 48 Solar panels for maximum fuel efficiency, features extensive space for Hydropods, ship parking, as well as purpose-built bays for all 8 Medium Shield additions. Its Hangar is so large it can fit 2 Fusion cores or Arrays side by side, with room for armor on all sides of both.
If you like The Tasker II and some of my other ‘joy of flying’ designs for getting things done, but perhaps wanted a bit more space to park all of your toys, this is the ship for you. With over 14Gs of omnidirectional thrust, this ship can fly anywhere, anytime, with heavy loads. It has a standard compliment of laser turrets for clearing out modest shielded POIs, and a compliment of 12 Manual Lasers & 6 additional minigun turrets to sweep drones and medium sized CVs from the Sky.
The Maelstrom is my first full-size Carrier CV, but it wont be my last, enjoy!
