Baureihe 52
The Decapods of the BR 52 series were steam locomotives designed during the Second World War by simplification of the BR 50 ük series (Übergangskriegslokomotive – "transitional war locomotive") itself derived from the BR 50 developed in 1939. Built in large numbers from 1942 for the needs of the war, in particular by requisition of the industry of the occupied countries having adequate factories, they were found in many countries, some of which continued to produce them after the end of the hostilities.
