Jozef’s Dutch East Indies Names: Dutch Orthography
This mod changes all names of states and places of (what would become) the Dutch East Indies according to Dutch orthography found on contemporaneous maps.
The names in the game switch between modern Indonesian orthography (‘Aceh’), English orthography (‘Macassar’) and Dutch (or at least Dutch-era) orthography (‘Menado’). Thus, in this mod these all follow the ‘Dutch’ spelling: ‘Atjeh’, ‘Makassar’ and ‘Menado’.
From my little research, I couldn’t find out what nation Sulawesi (which occupies the majority of the island) is supposed to represent. One map from the period shows many different states on the island (called ‘rijken’, literally ‘realms’ in Dutch), so I renamed the country of ‘Sulawesi’ to ‘Realms of Celebes’.
As the name of this mod implies, I also intend to make a similar mod to this one, but with English orthography according to maps from the period.
