Designed originally for the 1900’s World Fair,the Mannlicher–Schönauer was quickly bought by the Hellenic army,pretty much the only military that was ever interested in the rifle.It was used in small numbers by the Austro-Hungarian army in WW1,but in WW2 it saw extensive use as the main rifle of the Greek army.It was used by frontline units and by partisans,and it was held in high regard due to it’s smooth action,due to the internal rotary magazine and the Gewehr 98 style bolt.
