Better Colonisation + Other Fixes
My attempt at fixing some of the many issues in game as well as other little personal touches. My first actual mod, everything seems to work as intended from testing but comment if you find bugs or want to help me with the mod I’d greatly appreciate it.
I’ve aimed for the AI to try to conquer historical lands, unify regions and for it to be much slower to colonise before the invention of quinine and malaria cure. So far I’ve noticed an increase in wars, unification of regions and better borders.
Tweaks:
-Moved quinine to tier 3 tech.
-Increased affects from malaria and severe malaria – its now very slow and deadlier to colonise without quinine at least.
-Made all expeditions have a 1 year cool-down (previously was 1800+ days). This often results in Expeditions actually succeeding, although the AI still struggles with it.
-Removed Pondicherry as treaty port. This should hopefully balance France a bit more so they don’t have tariff free access to UK market.
-Removed Britain’s Ghanaian treaty port. They won’t have access to Dutch and Portuguese markets. This has however made the area an incorporated state for the UK (this is a bug I can’t fix).
Europe changes:
-French claims on Savoy/Provence.
-Serbian claims over lands needed to form Yugoslavia.
-Wallachian/Moldavian claims over land required for Romania.
-Prussian claims over Schleswig-Holstein.
-Sarinian/Two Sicilian claims over Italian land (will carry over when they form Italy).
North American changes:
-Removed native nations from NA. (Its not accurate borders but idc).
-Removed colonisation from the US to stop them colonising West Africa.
-Made it easier for US to claim Oregon territories and Alaska – no longer required to have cordial relations with Russia and Britain (neutral is enough).
-Removed Quinine requirement for West American expedition; also allowed it to be attempted after 1 year as expeditions are bugged. This has often made the expedition complete in around ~5-15 years from game start (I’ve seen the US complete it first attempt but that felt more like a fluke).
Asia/Oceania changes:
-Made Dutch EIC a dominion – allows them to conquer their claims like the BIC/Raj can.
-Annexed the minor puppets of the Dutch EIC into it.
-Added claims for Dutch EIC to historical borders (Sumatra, Borneo etc).
-Colonised entireity of Celebes to Dutch EIC (they wouldn’t colonise it themselves).
-Gave East India Company lands in Malaya to the British.
-Siamese and Dai Viet claims over Laos and other neighbouring regions.
-Added historic border claims to East India Company (Burma, Western borders etc).
-Gave Ottomans Line Infantry + 7 arms industries in Konya. Ottomans didn’t start with any.
-Removed Napoleonic Warfare from Egypt. Ottoman-Egypt war should be a lot more balanced.
-Gave claims to Russia for outer Manchuria, Kars, Central Asia, Qing Tomsk, Tannu Tuva and the random minors within their borders.
-Made Mazandaran stretch from East to West across entire Persian Caspian Sea.
-Gave Persia and Trucial States a claim over the Omani territory in their land.
-Claims added to all of Yemen for Qasimid state.
-Gave Australian/NZ land to suitable Australian nation.
African changes:
-Claims in Ethiopia for all Ethiopian minors. I’ve witnessed Ethiopia form a few times by the AI.
-Claims in Somaliland for the powerful Somali nations.
-Claims for Sokoto/Wadai on neighbours.
-Claims for South Africa on Boers and the Zulu.
-Zulu claims on Boers.
-Given all of Zululand to the Zulu (rather than it being split between Zulu and decentralised).
I mostly added the claims for historical accuracy and just for the AI to actually do something in the game.
I did plan on adding extra events, flavouring and journal entries etc for North German Federation/Germany and Italy such as giving them claims/annexing minors in the relevant locations. (Major skill issue + Lost interest).
