在日本天皇国（二战末，遭遇2枚原子弹轰炸的日本仍然没有投降，美国不得已发起“奥林匹亚”行动，在日本本岛以常规作战形式击败日本，此后日本投降，依然是正常国家，拥有交战权，只是从日本帝国Empire of Japan改名为日本天皇国Mikadodom of Nippon）特高课空勤队于冲绳海域发现海试的人民解放军海军003型战列舰后，炮制了邻国“意图险恶的重大威胁”报告，该国当局决定建造超巨大战列舰以应对，该级舰定名为“纪伊”级。
该舰搭载巨大的540mm主炮，新型152mm高平两用副炮以及改进的100mm经典款副炮。长宽比较低，舰体极其宽，实现了比之前“大和”级更将长的横摇周期，在“海上舰炮射击平台稳定性”领域登峰造极。
基于日美同盟条件，该舰大量搭配美式电子设备如雷达传感器，但是涉及舰炮火控部分仍然使用传统的日本光学仪器。然则因为对曾经敌手的提防，美方并未提供更全面的支持，导致该舰同样面临日本传统的产能受限问题，如：因为新式80倍径100mm高角炮产能不足，不得已在架高层安装仓库中原为旧海军航母准备的100mm高角炮（半遮蔽炮罩）；新型炮塔式40mm高射炮同样产能不足，建筑物上搭载的只能是炮盾版老40mm。人民海军侦察舰“天王星”舰于东京外海发现该舰后，注意到了这一奇特的武器配置，因此该舰得名“乘凉舰”。
值得记叙的行动：冷战中期，日本天皇国国内左翼运动风起云涌，“赤军”甚至一度渗透进入东京与当局交战。“纪伊”号曾开进东京湾，以5座三联装540mm主炮指向东京城区，准备弹压，幸好并未开火。
MNN=Mikadodom of Nippon Navy. At the end of World War 2, Japan didn’t yield even after 2 atomic bombs. The American had to launch Operation Olympia and landed on the beach of Japan. After a lengthy and fierce battle, Japan finally surrendered and changed its name from Empire of Japan to Mikadodom of Nippon. Mikadodom of Nippon is not restricted by peace constitution like it is in our universe.
After witnessing Type 003 Super Battleship of PLAN going sea trial around Okinawa waters. Japanese intelligence sector reported the incident as threatening and menacing to its authority. Mikadodom of Nippon decided to respond by building their own super battleship named as Kii Class.
The battleship’s main feature was her huge 540mm main gun, new 152mm dual purpose gun and improved 100mm classic aa guns. She has a relatively low length-beam ratio and an impressive hull width. The class boasted an even longer period of roll than proceeding Yamato Class. So she was recognized as an extremely stable naval artillery platform.
As the main naval ally in pacific, MNN received a batch of US made electronics like radars and sensors, while her gun fire control remained traditional– mainly optical. The limited cooperation was partially because of the precaution taken by US as the alliance leader. Due to lack of production capacity, Kii Class had a mixture of old and new weaponry. Her elevated AA battery had to install older version of 100mm AA gun taken out of storage originally built for IJN carriers. She had limited access to new turret 40mm AA gun and was forced to carry shielded version of 40mm AA guns. PLA Reconnaissance Ship "Uranus" first spotted Kii Class battleship near the Tokyo sea and noted the aforementioned characteristic as "a vessel built to relax in the wind".
Operations taken worth noting: amid the heat of cold war. Left wing activities went viral in Mikadodom of Nippon. The far left paramlitary organization "Red Army" infiltrated Tokyo and put on a revolt against the authority. Kii sailed into the Tokyo bay and once brought her main guns to bear and aimed at downtown Tokyo, preparing to suppress the uprise but never actually fired.
