朝鲜人民军海军战列巡洋舰727号。相较于中国海军更倾向于建设性能全面的高速战列舰，其军事同盟朝鲜则对战列巡洋舰非常感兴趣。因此“援朝13号工程”核心项目，便是量身设计一种新型战列巡洋舰，作为朝鲜人民军海军旗舰。
基于朝鲜人民军海军提出的要求，该舰装备4座3联装305mm舰炮炮塔，侧舷装甲带305mm，航速33节。因为性能要求过于全面，因此该型舰排水量在战巡中极为庞大。该舰以内部空间逼仄闻名，上层建筑如同金字塔一般挤在一起。
该舰舷号727，是朝鲜方面纪念1954年7月27日的朝鲜战争胜利日（平行世界）。因为该舰为全新设计，施工周期较长，此前以727命名一艘轻巡洋舰作为代理旗舰。在该舰完工后，启用727舷号，原轻巡727号改为425号（朝鲜人民军海军成立纪念日）。

In contrast to China and its PLAN being more focused on high speed battleships, their military alliance DPRK shows greater interests in battlecruiser concept. As the core element of "The 13th Project of Aiding DPRK", BC-727 is the new battlecruiser designed in full comply of KPANF ‘s demand.
The ship is equipped with 12 305mm main battery in 4 triple turret mounts, 305mm main belt. It has a maximum speed of 33 knots. As the price of being exceptional in every aspect of performance, BC-727 has an astonishing displacement among battlecruisers. Her inner space is cramped with all sorts of equipment and her superstructure was described as pyramid-like.
The pennant number 727 was chosen in memory of the Victory Day of Korean War (July 27th, 1954 as in parallel universe). 727 was given to a light cruiser as acting flag ship of KPANF previously. After finishing her lengthy construction period, 727 was transfered to the battlecruiser. The aforementioned CL was renamed as CL-425 (425 was the KPANF founding day and DPRK’ s Navy Day).
